The music gets slower

The bad playing shifted tempo , slowing things down. You glanced around, looking for a way out of dancing. Shannon has her arms around her partner’s neck with his hands firmly on her waist.

Madge, meanwhile, had her cheek resting on her part er’s shoulder, his hand in the small of her back, her hand on his shoulder with the pair holding their other hand together.

This was awkward if that’s how ladies danced these slow dances. You started to thank Henry for his attention and for the dance when he pulled you close, apparently not realizing you were through dancing.

Henry’s hands encircled your girdle-bound waist and you had little choice but to put your arms around his neck, just like Shannon.

“Oh!” You said, caught off guard. “I don’t have a hus...band.” You realized what Henry had just gotten you to admit too. You sighed as he pulled you in closer.

As you danced, both Madge and Shannon smiled at you, mouthing, “HE’S CUTE!” And “NICE CATCH!” To you as the song seemed to last longer than a song should.
