A party out on a lake

“Seriously? There’s no way I can do that!”

“Oh come on, dude, it’ll be fun!”

Rebecca, one of the most popular girls in school, was apparently having a small gathering at a lake house that her parents owned and were nice or dumb enough to give their daughter access to for the weekend. As Amy found out through the grapevine, the head cheerleader was going to have a small get together of a few friends and acquaintances, and Amy managed to get herself invited, with you as a prospective plus-one.

It felt a little too good to be true, like trying to join in on this party was punching a little bit above your social weight class, but Amy assured you it’d be a night to remember.

“Hey,” she said, “maybe you’ll even get lucky with a wingman like me working with you!” You told her off, but couldn’t get the though out of the back of your head, and you still took her invitation; you picked her up on Saturday evening, shortly before the sun set below the trees, and made your way to what you hoped was going to be a night to remember.
