Chapter 28 by Almax Almax

Errr.... ahem, what's your first class today?

The famous Warrior history lecture!

Oh yeah! That's right, it totally slipped your mind! With your backpack all packed and ready for the day, and Cameron up and about, you two walk down the hallway next to each other. Well, you're a step or two in front of Cameron. You maintain this distance whenever he tries to close it.{if@ Purity >= 80} You're too pure to be that close to a pervert who gets hard in his sleep right now!{else} You're not that pure yourself, but still, you're not doing it in your dreams!{endif}

You'd probably be walking ahead of him anyway, because you're walking pretty fast. You're excited! This lecture is a big part of becoming a Warrior. With your equipment ordered and on the way, you spend the entire day listening to some of the most famous retired Warriors talking about their stories, and about the stories about the first settlers' run-ins with monsters. There's a break midway through for lunch. It's really cool! P-partly because it means a day without having to pay attention. It's like an early weekend-break for your first week at the university. But you're totally going to pay attention, because it's so cool and inspiring!

As you speedwalk excitedly, hands clutching your backpack's straps and torso leaned forward at a significant angle, as Cameron struggles to keep in pace, you're nearly smashed into by a sideswiping mass of hair. Wait, no, that's just Lexi wearing casual clothes with poofy bedhair. Actually, it's less casual clothes and more pyjamas. As you stop to take in the rather imposing sight, Cameron finally reaches your other side.

Lexi yawns exaggeratedly, stretching her arms high over her head, before slumping over and rubbing at her half-lidded eyes. "Hey guys...." She just about gets out. "You- *yaaaaawwnnn* ready for the lecture?" She smacks her lips twice and scratches at her butt. Her pyjama pants are long and light blue, with yellow stars all over them. Her pyjama top is a pink shortsleeve, which actually looks like it was meant to just be a normal top, and has "No Lemon, No Melon" written in yellow print over the front.

You stare at her as she finishes rubbing her eyes and smacks her lips one more time. Looking over you with only slightly-more focused eyes now, she lets one arm hang limply at her side while the other goes up to pat at her explosion of hair. Not to fix it, just to feel it.

"What's up?" she asks, then follows your eyes and looks down at herself. "Oh. Yeah, I getcha."

You finally break your eyes from what's right in front of you and look around the nearby area. "Hey, where's Miranda? Don't you two share a room?"

"Yeah, she got up early because she wanted to start setting up her notebooks before it started. Like, two hours before."

Yeah, you don't know much about Miranda yet, but that seems pretty spot-on. Miranda probably made sure Lexi got all ready and cleaned up yesterday morning too, then....

"I'll be right. They're gonna be on a stage, with lights pointed at them 'n stuff, so they probably won't see us if we just sit in the back row." You stiffly nod once in reply. Then, turning sharply on your heel, you begin leading the march once again to the miniature theatre set up just near to the courtyard, one more follower in tow.

"Heya, Cam." You hear from behind you, followed by the light sound of fists tapping together.

It's difficult, given your **** speed and Lexi's lumbering, sleepy pace modulated and pushed a bit by Cameron, but eventually the three of you reach the theatre. And kind of early, too! All of the teachers are sitting in the front row, and so's Miranda with her own little table set up and covered by three notebooks and eight differently coloured pens, but the only other students here are a pair of second years.{if ArenaView == 1} Hey, wait a sec, that's Gold Rush!! Oh my god, oh my god.... you're going to be sitting in the same theatre as Gold Rush! She's sitting and chatting happily with the man that beat her- but she had him on the ropes! S-should you say something to her? You're such a big fan... no, no you should just keep to yourself for now. Wow, this is so cool....{endif}

You find a space on the end of the back row, sitting between Lexi and Cameron, where you sit and wait as the seats slowly fill up. Eventually the lights dim, and the stage lights go on. Frantically slapping awake the snoring Lexi, bent backwards over her seat, the first presenter comes on stage.....

So. Do you actually pay attention?
