An awkward conversation

The doubt and slight panic that Sarah was putting him through was agonising but also beyond exciting. Sarah had left him alone with a painful erection and Tom was determined to take care of it. He was just heading to his computer where he did all his bast masturbating when his phone rang. Shit, please don't be a client, just be a stupid sales call and I can get rid of them. He thought as he rummaged around in his pocket. Looking at the screen _oh no, it's worse _Phil's name on the screen. He slumped in his office chair as he answered it "Phil, hi, how are you?"

"Hi Tom, I'm good." Phil sounded tense. "Look Jo told me not to call you about this but I can't let it go."

"What's up buddy?" Tom knew full well what it was about but he couldn't bring himself to head this off at the pass.

"Jesus, look I'll just come out and say it. I think Sarah is cheating on you. Jo and I were at a work do and she was there with that guy from my office that..."

Tom cut him off "Phil, I know. She told me she saw you guys there."

There was silence and Tom was beginning to think they had been disconnected when Phil said "So Jo was right? This is like a thing that you do?"

Tom groaned "Yea or at least it's a thing we've started doing. Look, Phil, I don't expect you to get it and I really wish you guys didn't know but really Sarah and me, we're good. Everything that she's doing I know about."

Again a silence, then "Holy shit man. I mean I don't get it but then I don't get those people who dress up like animals either so..."

"Oh no, did you just compare me to a furry?"

"Is that what they're called? How do you even know that? Don't tell me you're into that too?"

Tom had to laugh "No I'm not a furry. Fuck Phil, any chance we could just not talk about this? I feel like I'm about to crawl up my own arsehole I'm cringing so hard."

It was Phil's turn to laugh "Wow you're just laying out all your kinky shit today aren't you? Okay dude, I just wanted to make sure she wasn't hurting you."

Tom was genuinely moved "Thanks man, it's great to know you'd look out for me like that. So let's just not talk about it. I'm sure you wouldn't want me knowing your kinkiest fetish."

"My kinkiest fetish is tying and gagging Jo in the bedroom and then going downstairs to drink scotch and watch action films in peace and quiet. Seriously though, there's no way I'm not hearing more about this. Next time I get you alone I'm quizzing you."

They passed the time with some casual chat before Phil had to get back to work. Tom was surprised to find that he was actually pleased that Phil knew. He wasn't his oldest or dearest friend but he'd shown himself to be on Tom's side and that meant a lot. He realised he now had a confidante and that was kind of appealing.
