She shows great responsibility

With her newfound power, Valerie could fix every problem in the world.

She wasn't going to, of course. That would be incredibly irresponsible.

Valerie had always thought of herself as a moral person. She wasn't going to let power corrupt her like that. So... no messing with people's minds against their will. their memories would be edited with the wishes, she supposed, but no... no fundamentally forcing new personalities on them, or interfering with the autonomy of their minds. There were a few exceptions, of course; rapists, murderers, anyone who'd committed a crime against others heinous enough to forfeit their right to basic human respect, were fair game.

As for wishes. Big wishes were out. She had a moral duty to other people, now that she was so much more powerful than them, to have some consideration for the knock-on effects of her actions. For example, she could wish **** was impossible... but given that wishes were retroactive, would that wipe from existence all the innocent people born out of ****? And their children and grandchildren? Would the 2 million descendants of Genghis Kahn vanish, just like that? Or would the magic take the simpler route of changing victim's minds and magically compelling them to consent to sexual advances? Solving slavery, or world hunger, or wishing for world peace... all had similar problems.

She could fix the world a bit later, when she had more experience. This was still the learning stage; she was going to make mistakes, so they might as well be small mistakes, on small wishes.

The genie was still watching her. Right.

What did Valerie do when she got a new device? She customised it to her needs and tastes.

"This ring is too bulky," she said. "I wish it was a thin gold band with a small emerald set in it. I wish it couldn't be damaged against my will."

The genie squirmed a little as the ring shrank and morphed to a more convenient size and shape. Now to customise the other half of the package.

"I wish Jessica looked like my idea of the sexiest person ever." Might as well make it interesting to look at, right?

Jessica gasped. "Please, Mistress! Stop it!" it begged as its body began to change shape.
