End of an Empire

Rome has been carved in half. To the east lies the Eastern Roman Empire, sitting upon vast wealth and the grain surplus of Egypt. Long have they looked at the failing empire, waiting for the moment to strike. To the north, barbarians invade, taking for themselves whatever they please, Rome is powerless to stop them. Plague ravages the lands, and food shortages lead to rebellions. It is in this mess of a situation that you have decided to enter.

You have a few options for a start here.

Guardian of the Empire - you stand between Rome and the coming storm. A thunder of Hunic hooves is fast approaching, lighting flashes of sword and arrow visible on the horizon. The Huns drive before them hordes of Germanic tribes who seek refuge or a place to call home and who’ll happily take what they want if not offered before hand. Rome needs a strong, firm hand to see her through this troubling time

Champion of Rome - the invaders have taken much, Rebellion has claimed more. Rome is but a shadow of itself having been pushed back to modern day Italy. Now, a boy Emperor sits on the throne and the people wait the **** blow, begging for someone to save them from their darkest hour yet like the days of old with heros such as Scipio Africanus, Julius Caesar and the more recent Diocletian.

Bringer of light - Rome has fallen. No saviour came, no hope restored. The capital has been sacked and the last Emperor has been dethroned. Now a Barbarian calls himself ‘King’ while his men raveage the countryside. Not all is lost yet, the people are still there, defeated and broken. All they need now is a new Romulus, a new Founder of Rome.
