It does distract her but in an unexpected way...

As Emily and Zack took seats in the drama classes show circle of chairs, Emily saw a stack of scripts on Ms. Pomeroy's desk. It looked as if they'd be performing Romeo and Juliet for their first assignment. The idea of sharing a romantic scene with Zack did peak her interest and made her forget about the whole locker debaucle. As the remainder of the class trickled in she saw one of Greg's friend Joey enter and take a seat. What the hell is he doing here? She wondered to herself Joey was a lanky and tall stoner, what interest did he have in the performing arts. She soon got her answer as he whispered to the girl next to him "So is this class really a blow off class?" Of course he's here because he wants to coast through highschool not actually do anything with his time here. No wonder he hung out with Greg they were both going nowhere fast, I mean if he got a bit of initiative and dropped his doechebag friends he might actually make something of himself. His shaggy black hair and dark brown eyes gave him a look of mystery and edge. If Joey did something about the acne starting to speckle his face he might even be somewhat attractive. Emily quickly caught herself why was she putting so much thought into Joey Kain.

"Alright Thespians and Bohenians alike, I greet you each and welcome your travel through the dramatic fates." Ms. Pomeroy was a stout and large woman with a bob cut and large red glasses that pointed into tips at their edge. Overly dramatic was her specialty and she was putting a little extra into the first day of class. "Those new and old to this classroom I have one rule when on my stage....anything said goes, there is no no's in broadway so go with the flow." Emily rolled her eyes, it was her least favourite part of this class when Ms. Pomeroy meant anything goes she means anything goes. Last year one boy spit on a girl and she had to keep going with her performance and rumour had it that last years senior class a boy used the anything goes rule to kiss as many cast members as he could, regardless of gender or sexuality. Emily shuddered at the idea that one of her fellow classmates might try to take advantage of the stage. Suddenly brought back to Ms. Pomeroy Emily heard her say, "This first week we explore passion, forbidden love and consequences of making decisions in the heat of the moment. I have assigned each of you a partner, discuss with your partner who will play the sweet Juliette and whom the rugged Romeo." Emily looked to Zack and saw him wink as he blew her a kiss and she blushed. Zack and her had done alot of kissing over the summer but something about doing it on stage with all her classmates watching, no focused, on them kissing made it even more exhilarating. "Listen closely as I call out the partners..."
