Starry Night

It is the day before my birthday and I am excited because Nami is going to take me out to buy me a dress so that I will be partying tomorrow in style. This just means that I have to put even more effort than usual into paying attention in class. I do not want to endure another lecture like the one I got yesterday. If I got into trouble again so soon, I would almost certainly get detention. The main problem with waiting for something that you are excited about is that time seems to slow down so much, It is almost as if time has stopped completely.

Sitting next to Rei did not make it any easier for me to make it through the day. Rei was not as cold to me as she was yesterday, but I could still feel a little bit of tension between us. I had tried to convince my friend to stop seeing Yuri for her own good, but I lost my cool. It really set me off when the blue haired girl told me that I did not understand what she was going through. It surprised me because Nami dropped me off at school. Maybe I am wrong and Rei did not see that event taking place, but I do not see how that is possible. I feel like I should try again to talk to Rei again, but I am afraid that this emotional topic will get me angry again. I think that I will be better off if I took a brief break to regroup.

The closer that I get towards the end of the day, the more that I have to concentrate to keep myself from becoming distracted. When I finally succeed on making through the day, I rush out of school a little faster then I ordinarily would and see the red Fierri that I was hoping to see. It was nice of Nami to come to school to get me and save me a walk home. I eagerly load my school stuff into the back seat with a bright smile on my face and then buckle my seat belt.

"You seem happy," Nami said with a smile to rival mine.

"I'm always happy to see you," I replied with a flirtatious wink of my right eye. There I go again. I can't help flirting with the blonde model. Let's face it. I am hooked.

"The feeling is mutual, Suki," Nami complimented.

It should have made me very happy to her the hot blonde's compliment, but it didn't. Something was replacing my happiness with anger. I looked behind me and saw Rei get into the same car that she did yesterday. Rei, not Yuri again! Before I knew what was going on, I banged my right fist on the passenger door.

"You could hurt yourself switching emotions that quickly," Nami needled me. "What's wrong?"

"Take a look behind us and tell me what you see," I ordered.

"Oh," Nami sighed after turning her head. I had expected more of an answer, but I guess that was the only thing that she could say. There is something more that I could say, however.

"I bet that Yuri has been picking Rei up from school just to get my goat! She knows that I used to date Rei!"

"I know that it is going to be hard for you, but try to put it out of your mind for now," Nami consoled. "Maybe we can both try an intervention on Monday."

"It just makes me so frustrated!" I fumed.

We soon arrived at a dress boutique and I could quickly tell that I would have no business being here if Nami was not buying me a dress for my birthday. The light fixtures were all porcelain and in shapes that I have never seen before. There was a table in the middle of the room where any customer could get champagne if they wanted. I was quickly ushered onto a stool where a seamstress took all of my measurements. Some of the red head's manipulations made me blush a deep shade of crimson. When it was done, a looked through the dresses and picked out a number that was black with white sequins. I picked it because it looked like a starry night and there has been many a time in my life when I have been distracted looking up at the stars.

I was trying on the dress in the dressing room and admiring myself in the mirror when I heard a noise that made me jump. I saw something in the mirror that made my breath jump. I know that my life is about to get a lot more complicated.
