Chapter 8 by Alcott Alcott

Does Rethdrian track the group, or is another surprise waiting for her there?

More surprises

Rethdrian spent a good half hour traveling to the place where the man had told her he had been robbed. She was cautious, waiting for a group of travelers to pass by and slipping in with them before lingering at the site. The ground had obviously been disturbed where he has told her the arrow would be, but it had been wiped clean. That was the first sign of trouble.

She began to pace back and forth along the road, looking for signs she might be able to track. She found footprints aplenty, but they were all jumbled, circling this way and that. From what she could tell the bandits had come this way but they had never left. By this point alarm bells were going off in her head.

She looked back down the road for the other travelers she had come with, but they had just disappeared around the bend. She was alone. This was very bad.

Before she could try to find a way to blend into the shadows a hand slid around her cheek and pressed itself tightly around her lips. She let out a muffled cry of alarm and tried to turn around, but whoever it was had grabbed her wrists together tightly. Soft lips and a silky voice touched lightly against her pointed ear.

"Don't struggle, sister. We do not want to harm you..."

What does Rethdrian do?
