His hands started to shake, against his will, as he scrolled through the rules on the app. The interface was strangely fluid. There seemed to be hundreds of rules, maybe thousands, but he quickly found any example that popped into his mind. Some were scientific (“an object in motion stays in motion”) while others seemed like common sense (“most people enjoy ice cream”) and he soon found a rule that would be a perfect test. He narrowed the list to rules specific to his hometown and found a simple rule he recognized. “Public transit buses have green coloring.” They’d been that way since he was a kid. But, could he change it? He deleted the word green and replaced it with pink and then waited for the bus to reach his stop.
