Yes, without hesitation

Without hesitation, you turn around, heading towards the door. You need to exit the main building, meaning the creature has a tremendous head start. You take a quick detour and grab a rifle on your way out. Going around and getting the rifle delays you for about two and a half minutes.

You are now standing above where the hole the creature fled from — looking for clues to where it is. About ten feet from the hole, you find a small pool of blood on the grass.

Readying the rifle in one hand, you begin to follow the trail outward. Slowly it leads you to one of the outlying structures. It is quite well put together for its age, only the peeling paint, flakes of rust, and the broken door even hint at its maturity.

You have to let go of the rifle, letting it hang from you; as you push aside to crooked door. Looking in, you cannot see. You turn on the light on the rifle, picking it up you can see a small nest, it seems to have made it of various black objects, stones, coals, plastics, and the box. You can see the creature, readying itself to attack you. You point and fire the rifle into the ground, hoping to scare it off.

It works.

It flees into the corner, escaping through a hole in the building nearby. You move in, grabbing the box and putting it into a pocket.

You look around, pushing the light around; besides the nest, this building looks like the rest. You begin to leave when you notice something — a spear near the exit.

Looking at the spear, you find that its tip has is metal; and its shaft is smooth and secure, it seems new.

"What?" you question, picking up the weapon.

It is too well made to be of "grey" ape construction, while they can build they make little more than sharpened sticks; no this is the work of a far more intelligent creature. Maybe even human.

"Could it be?" you walk out of the building, analyzing the tool.

On further reflection, you can tell that the metal is sharpened metal from one of the outlying structures while the wood has been dipped into some resin that has hardened like lacquer.

"I should show this to Haruka," you say beginning to walk back.
