Does Rick go looking for revenge?
He just adds them to the list
Rick was tempted to hunt down Baldy, Scrawny, and Miss Oklahoma and turn them inside out. There were only two problems with that idea. The first was that security would flag him as a suspect and he'd be back in prison, and the second was that he had some pre-existing revenge commitments, as in the executives at bio-DNA.
A couple of minutes chatting with the cashier who handed him his voucher had him names and general location of origin for the three who'd messed with him here. He would get to them when he could.
He texted Kat to find whether she was ready to go and found that she was still playing. He hadn't expected much from her but decided to offer some moral support.
Not only was she still playing, Kat had a fair stack of chips in front of her. Which was lucky because they'd consolidated the tables and the blind, or minimum bet had gone way up.
Scrawny looked up when Rick stepped behind Kat and gave him a smirk. "Guess you couldn't make it today, sucker."
"Nope." It was unfortunate this was a tournament rather than a head-to-head match because Rick would have loved to bankrupt this jerk. In tournaments, nobody can lose more than their buy-in amount both Scrawny and Kat looked to have won enough that they'd cash out positive in the event.
He studied the other players. Kat and an obese woman with an oxygen breather and a telescope she used to see the shared cards, were the only females. The others looked like serious players. Most of them had bigger stacks than Kat.
One pushed in a large stack of chips.
"He's bluffing," Rick whispered.
Kat shrugged and called.
The gambler gave Rick a dirty look and threw in his cards while Kat raked in the pot.
"You're not going to be able to do that often," she said. "Save it for big ones."
"I'll squeeze your ass when they're bluffing."
