More questions
Inquires and the Abyss Auction
Angelo felt many questions plaguing his mind. He didn't have that much money, but getting around on foot was not really a viable option. There was also the matter of useless items in his inventory such as that awful dress, if only, wait a second! He just remembered that Jasmine had given him the website address for the Abyssal Auction. He ran to his room, wondering why he hadn't thought of this sooner. He checked his wallet and pulled out their business card. Hmm, she had called it an Abyssal Auction, but seems it was just called the Abyss Auction. He turned on his computer and typed in the website address as soon as he could. After a moment a weird screen greeted him saying, "Place your hand here." written in friendly lettering. She had said it would prompt him from there, but this is rather odd. He placed his hand on the screen slightly unsure, but was accepted within seconds, the screen read, "Welcome, The Gamer. Please select a username to begin." Well, that was weird, it seemed to recognize him by his title. He was curious of how it detected it was him, and knew his title, but he could ask Jasmine about that later. He mulled over several options for a username before settling upon using his most common gaming handle, "DeSanto". It was rather odd not having a password, but using his hand as identification was not something someone else could copy easily. He felt it might be more than that, but tried not to think about it. Whoa, he thought as he saw the many options, slaves, items, books, information packets, and much more.
After some searching he found an option to upload pictures, but magical items would be appraised by a scanner at their facilities, he could also request a scanner be brought to his place. This was recommended as this would speed up the selling process. He selected the option to have a scanner brought to him. He blinked hearing a knock moments later at his door. He moved to check his door, but saw nothing was there. He heard a whirling sound as a drone uncloaked in front of his very eyes, it looked rather solid and had a rather large compartment that was made from some sort of metal. The front of that compartment lowered to reveal a scanner similar to the hand held ones from local stores, along with it were basic instructions on hooking it up to a computer and its use. That whirling sound vanished as did the drone from his view, it was a little creepy since he knew it had just been there, but he couldn't see any traces of it. It reminded him a little of the predator's cloaking ability without the flaws, no, it was closer to a Klingon or Romulan ship's cloaking from Star Trek. This definitely was a change of pace, whoever was in charge of the Abyss Auction obviously had a lot of power and resources. He shook his head slightly before heading back inside and hooking this scanner up to his computer.
It didn't take long to hook up the scanner, it had a simple usb connector. He opened his inventory and took out both Angelo's dress, Angelo's Jester hat, and Robert's Syringe. He placed those items on top of his bed's sheet before running the scanner over each of them, a soft blue light exuded from the device while active. It was a minor shock to find the prices the Abyss Auction's device recommended, it was taking several things into account, materials, magical properties, items or such of similar quality, and whether it had been seen before or not. $30,000 for the dress, $5,000 for the hat, and $1,000 for the syringe. Fuck, that is a lot of money. I could be rich and never have to really work a day in my life at this rate of income, he thought. He knew he had to risk his life to continue doing so, but it wasn't like the Abyss would give him much of an alternative. He raised the price of each item, $45,000 for the dress, $7,500 for the hat, and $1,500 for the syringe and clicked accept to have these items put up for Auction, it did alert him, that there would be a 10% fee upon sale of each item. He felt this was a small price to pay for not having to do any of the leg work or risking himself in the process, so he gladly accepted that fee. It wasn't long before he heard a knock at the door, a new drone had arrived to pick up his items to be put up for auction. All he needed to do now was wait.
Curiosity got the better of him while he waited, starting to browse for motorcycles and bicycles. There were many to choose from, many augmented to use mana instead of fuel, cloaking options, extra storage, various others and combinations thereof. He felt his right hand trembling with excitement, but that only happened when he got very excited, then again these were insanely interesting prospects. He sighed, those prices were insane too, some of the ones he really wanted were close to one million dollars or more, but on the bright side, he could possibly learn to make similar things with his crafting skill once it leveled high enough. This hadn't discouraged him, on the contrary, this had only invigorated him. Sure, this would take time, but this was exactly like any game worth playing. There would be a lot of grinding in his future, but that was important for improvement. That time would also allow for increasing his understanding and application of his abilities. Hmm, while looking back to the screen, he noticed something interesting by his screen name, it listed exactly how much money he had in his inventory. Wait, they had access to that too!? His question was answered when that dress sold, he received $40,500, increasing his total amount to $43,935.75. No, that is just on this account, right? He opened his inventory and was met with that same value of money, $43,935.75. That was nice, but also a little strange. Hmm, but what was really normal in the Abyss? Jasmine wasn't kidding when she said there was a lot to keep in mind.
He felt it would be better to buy a normal bicycle, upgrading it when he could. It wasn't like he needed to bring anyone with him for now. He shut down his computer and headed out. He knew of a bicycle shop nearby that would be able to handle his needs.
