Ed tries to process the news

Ed returned to the kitchen which is where he'd last spoken to his mom and then fucked her best friend on the table after she'd left to find her missing boyfriend. What had his last words to his mom been?

An offer of help and her reply haunted him "I think you've done enough for one day" she had told him in exasperation. Had the pressure he'd put her under with his medical bills and potential illegitimate child caused her to seek a way out or was it just a drunken accident like the police had informed him? How would he ever know for sure?

He checked the calendar, it wasn't April 1st, then he wondered how they knew for sure how they knew it was his mom. No one had identified the body yet, maybe it wasn't her, maybe Idris had kidnapped her and crashed her car, placing another woman's body inside along with his mom's ID.... Maybe... Ed could think a dozen reasons why the police could be wrong and yet the cold dread of the truth of the Officers words continued to weigh down his heart.

Why hadn't he insisted on going with her? Why hadn't Cory spoken up and told him how much Holly had had to drink? He felt indescribable rage towards Cory and to Idris for his disappearing which had caused her to drive in the first place and to Mason for not staying to stop his mom after she got her drunk, to Preeti for getting pregnant, Satria for not being a better husband to Preeti, Shauna for her mind games, Nyomi for not raising her son right, Dwayne for hospitalising him, the police for not getting there sooner, his dad for dying in a similar accident years ago, even Nikki and Jasmine for being so aloof and stuck up when they coukd have looked out for their neighbours but were both just sluts. He felt such rage at the injustice of the world that this would happen to him, that he would lose both parents at such a young age to accidents.

He caught his reflection in a mirror and knew that in truth his rage was aimed at the one person whose irresponsible actions either directly or indirectly led to the **** of his own mom.

He sat and cried remaining there until Idris found him there in the morning.

"What the fucks your problem" Idris demanded when he saw Ed, the first words Ed had heard since the news of his mothers ****.

Ed looked up at this man who had antagonised him from the first time they met.
