Who picked it up?
Alexandria Devin
(Hello! First Time Poster. Decided to put down something different and see how it goes! As I have not written much, I hope it is not too rough.
Posters and Lurkers Welcome!)

Alexandria Devin was stunned by what she just heard.
Alexandria was not a very popular girl, and in fact was considered a bit creepy by her fellow students. Being fairly quiet, and standing 5'1" at best, she would often have been overlooked had she not been fairly attractive with beautiful shoulder length auburn hair, a splendid blending of her Greek and Irish Heritage. With a rowdy family life growing up, as well as switching schools every few years till she was 17, she had never made many long term connections with anyone outside her family, developing as a rather introverted girl with a nose for books and a penchant for daydreaming. Unfortunately, in the year and a half she had been attending the local school she had earned a reputation for being creepy. While there were many small reasons she was considered creepy by the popular students, there were two major standouts.
Last year she had gotten in trouble a few times for persistently reading books during class. While she got detention a few times for not paying attention, it was not until a teacher grabbed a book out of her hands and read the rather descriptive page depicting certain lewd acts that she got into real trouble. Alex had been frequently reading adult novels during class, and it did not help that her tastes were varied and often out of the ordinary, as evidenced by the following search of her locker by the assistance principal.
The second reason she was creepy was her fascination with the popular kids, Jessica in particular. From collecting juicy school gossip to being caught with lingering gazes at the gym locker rooms, she had gained a reputation as a pervert, a lesbian, or just a creeper. Alex was actually rather obsessed with the more popular students in school, and she had eventually focused in on the 'queen bee' as it were.
Jessica did not invite her but, like Kevin, she decided to show up anyway. While Alex would not call herself a lesbian as many others have, she was still obsessed with Jessica. Being from a hardworking single parent household straddling the low income line, she grew fascinated with the seemingly perfect lives many of the students had, as well as their dismissive attitudes for it. She was not really angry at the difference between them, but she often felt she was watching fantasy creatures live their lives, with a magical quality as though they were stories.
Jessica was not only beautiful, smart, and popular, but she seemed to consistently have everything handed to her on a silver platter. Looking from the outside in, it was almost as close to a fairy tale as school life could be, a vast contrast to the humble life Alex and her family live. So Alex had her fantasies and stories. She loved the different things she could read about, and she loved watching the popular students. Often in her books and fantasies she would envision the other students, in situations both tame and (increasingly) not so tame. It was a way to escape a rather boring life, and so she decided to flesh out what she knew about Jessica, about what made her life so perfect, so... magical.
While avoiding being spotted by Jessica, or one of her core group of friends, Alex had been snooping and catching gossip, figuring that as long as she did not attract attention her school status was iffy enough that she would not be challenged for being at the party. So Alex studied the various family photos, artwork, and other decor that decorated Jessica's house, reading the notes on the fridge and book titles in the office, but eventually she ran into trouble.
Glancing at some family beach pictures along one of the hallway walls, Alex was shoved aside by Valerie Pearce passing her by. “Move it Lesbo!” the other girl said snidely, not even looking back at her. With a few people glancing over at the ruckus, Alex became worried about the attention and retreated outside to the garden.
Leaning back against the solitary tree in the garden, she glanced up and saw Kevin, a fellow outcast, lifting himself over the trellis and into Jessica's room. She found it a bit hard to determine her feelings about his presence. It felt like she was watching Jessica's privacy being violated, but at the same time she felt jealous that he was making it in to where she had not been able to go. Did Jessica have a stuffed animal? A favorite book or movie on a shelf... maybe even a diary on a desk!? So with conflicting feelings churning within her, she decided to climb up after him. To yell at him to get out, and to see Jessica's bedroom, her most private place, herself.
Alex was hanging just below the window when she heard the “What the fuck?” from Jessica... and then she froze and listened. She was stunned... Jessica was magical? And then she heard the clang from the ring and glanced up as it flew out the window. She looked down, and in a weird state of stunned excitement, she let go of the trellis and kept her eyes where the ring (a magic ring!) dropped.
She banged her knees up a bit during her landing, but rather then giving herself a moment to regain her footing she wobbled over to the ring. A loud slam echoed from behind her when Kevin slammed the door open in his haste to get outside, and slid it on while Jessica peeked out from the window above. Turning around to face them, she started to speak.
"I wish..."
Kevin is coming in from the rear, while Jessica watches her from above. There is a dirty joke in there somewhere, but now's not the time! What should Alex wish for (or try to)?
