Charlotte's studies

[Charlotte's POV]

Several weeks have passed since Sally was turned. Jessica hasn't turned any others, and neither has Charlotte since the night that she attacked the college students. I wonder what's become of Julia? Charlotte thinks, smiling to herself.

Her rampage through Rio continues nightly, but Charlotte has started to miss her old academic life. Tonight is one of the nights that where she stays inside, feeding off of the slaves rather than hunting. She is curled up in a large armchair. An enthralled blood **** stands next to her, dripping blood from her wrist into a pitcher. From time to time, Charlotte pours from the pitcher into a glass and drinks, focused on her book.

Charlotte is sorting through a box of old occult texts that Nicole had won for her at an estate sale of an old historian. Most of it was total junk. She laughed out loud when she came across Salem's Lot in the box of books, tossing it to the side. A few titles appeared to be genuinely useful. She was now reading a text called Ritualis sui Sanguinis that appeared to be from the eighth century. The book detailed some spells she already knew in alternate forms, as well as several new ones.

Charlotte was most interested in a ritual titled "Sanguinem domo Servitutis". Blood slavery. The ritual had several steps, but the key part consisted of making your own blood so potent that any human who ingested even the smallest amount would be instantly bound to your will, even over large distances. In essence, the vampiress who pulled it off would be able to control a large number of thralls remotely. The spell was quite specific. Charlotte called Nicole and Lauren to help her prepare. Charlotte closes the book and puts its on the table next to her. She grabs the ****, yanking the girl's wrist to her mouth. She sinks her fangs into the wrist, feeding until the girl passes out.

Charlotte sits back in her chair, licking the blood from her lips. With greater control over the cattle, the possibilities are endless. Charlotte fantasizes about presiding over a great vampiric court, where blood flowed freely and a captive human population bowed to her will.

Charlotte fantasized about the future. A future with or without Jessica.
