Ross comforts you

You sit alone in the house, blankly staring at a photo of you and your father. It was a little old, taken during your thirteenth birthday party. You are grinning at the camera, holding some sort of present. Your father has an arm wrapped around your shoulders, his attention fully on you. It feels strange, knowing that your father will never look at you like that again, that he will never look at you again, period. Your dad had always seemed invinsible, indestructible... You guess you were wrong about that.

The police didn't tell you much, just that he had been found deceased in the forest. You don't know what happened, but you hope it was quick and painless for his sake. He suffered enough as it was.

You had cried and screamed after you got off the phone with them, until you ran out of tears and couldn't make a sound. That was how you ended up here staring at the photo.

Your phone kept going off, but you didn't bother to pick it up. You didn't want to talk to anyone right now except for one person, and he would never call again. You were alone... At least till you heard the door open.

"Lexus?" you hear Ross call, "Lexus, doll, are you here?"

"Here." you call out, your voice horse from all the crying.

Ross didn't say another word, simply running to you and enveloping you in a tight hug. You wanted to pull away, but you can't bring yourself to do so. Ross was all you had left now and you don't want to chase him away.

"It's okay doll." he says, "You're going to be okay. I got you."

You let out a whimper and begin to cry once more. You let him hold you as you do, surrendering to your grief once more.
