Something Very Interesting

It didn’t take me long to get myself free from Copycat’s sash. It was a simple cloth sash so once I got my knife out, I was free and thus took off into the night in search of my attacker. However, after an hour of searching, it became clear that I wasn’t going to find her. The city was a big place, Copycat clearly had superhuman speed and she had a five min head start on me. It was getting late and I had dance practice in the morning so I decided to head home. I did so with some hesitation though. There was something different about Copycat when she left that bothered me. Why had her hair suddenly grown longer and the same shade of red as my hair. As I entered my dorm room, peeled off my costume and plopped down in my bed, I decided that it wasn’t worth worrying about.

The next day was uneventful. I attended practice and my classes, did my homework and headed out into the night to find Copycat. I didn’t find her but I did find some thugs who were happy to help me blow off steam. I thought that maybe my encounter with Copycat was a one time thing but the next day, I was meant with a shock. I was sitting with my friends in the cafeteria and on the TV was a news story detailing a break in at a jewelry store. A break in perpetrated by Amethyst!!! Of course, I knew this was bogus. I am Amethyst after all. It had to be Copycat. With that new hair of hers, it wouldn’t take much for her to look like me. As annoyed as I was, I was also a little excited. I had only been a superheroine for a few months. Never did I expect that I would be facing an evil twin this soon.

Once night fell, I hit the streets in search of Copycat. I decided to check out the jewelry store that was broken into. However, the place was still swarming with cops so there was no way I was going to be getting in there without being caught. I paced back and forth, trying to figure out what I should do. I had to catch this imposter before she ruined my reputation. I didn’t have to go far though as the imposter came to me. “Well well well. If it isn’t the lovely Amethyst. I guess it’s true what they say: The suspect always returns to the scene of the crime.” I turned around and was shocked by what I saw. I was expecting to find Copycat wearing a cheap knockoff of my suit but it was like looking in a mirror. She looked exactly like me right down to my curves and mannerisms. “Ho…..how is this possible. You look exactly like me.” She smiles at me and walks towards me. “I have this curious power. By ingesting a bit of DNA, be it blood, hair or in your case spit -by the way, you tasted wonderful-, I turn into a perfect copy of the person in question.” She was still circling me. One thing I couldn’t help but wonder…...did I really look that hot. “Do you really think I’m going to let you get away with this?” She smiled at me before taking a fighting stance. MY FIGHTING STANCE!!! “I don’t know. Are you?”
