After she and Kyle sat down she decided to take control of the situation and turn this whole thing into something not embarrassing for her. So far, the only reason for her to be nice to anyone was if she wanted something from them. But what could Kyle possibly have for her?

Kyle interrupted her thoughts. "So it's pretty clear something is on your mind Tanya. Before today you barely spoke a word with me and now we're having lunch."

"Yes, there is,..." She said while a thousand thoughts ran through her head. "You see I need something from you. And this shouldn't be a big deal, but you know how my friends are when it comes to these things." Tutoring! While her friends were always picking on the geeks, Tanya was painfully aware that she needed to pick up her grades. She really didn't have any interest in taking summer courses. The only thing worse than being a nerd was being seen as dumb. This was an obvious way to use this situation for her advantage.
