Damn right I will

“You’re on!” He slapped the counter and laughed. “Great! Four shots will do, you ready?” I nod and he smiles as Carl pours the shots for us. Some guy nearby the other dude started shouting. “Hey guys, we got ourselves a quad!” “So what’s your name?” He asks me. “Alex.” “Cool, I’m Jimmy. You drink much Alex.” I shook my head. “Just about once every few months.” He smiles. “You know what, make it five shots.” Carl laughs and pours us a fifth. “No way, that’s too much.” Gabi argued. “Nah not if he’s okay with it, are ya?” Jimmy looks at me with a cocky grin.

Ya know, it’s been a while since I’ve drank before. The last party I went to didn’t go too well, and already I have five other guys with me that I feel I could come to know them as my friends. Even if it’s a mistake, I could still say this is my own personal way of celebration. A few shots to celebrate things going right for a change.

“Damn right I’m okay with it.” By this point we had around four other guys around us not including Nick, Carl, Gabi and Ivan. I couldn’t make out what they were saying, their voices were overlapping one another but they all seemed to be daring us to drink more or daring each other to do the same. Carl poured the last shot and set the bottle down. “That’s all of em! Show us what ya got Alex.” He slapped my back and grabbed his drink from Nick.

“Ready?” I nod. “Go!” I grab my first shot and raise my head up without thinking and poured the contents down my throat, swallowing it fast. Too fast actually, I almost didn’t taste it. Almost, I forgot how **** felt in the throat. I coughed once and saw Jimmy on his second shot, following soon with my own. The crowd around us were chanting “SHOT! SHOT! SHOT!” As I went for my third, then my fourth. Oh fuck, I could feel a slight burning in my stomach. This probably wasn’t a good idea, no holding back now. Jimmy slammed his shot glass and raised his hands up in victory as the crowd cheered before watching me. I was a bit hesitant, I messed up and tasted the fourth shot and now I was fighting myself in drinking the fifth. Gabi grabbed my arm and nodded. “You got this.” I smile and grab the glass, throwing my head back with it and gulping down that fifth shot. “YEAAAAA!!!!” Everyone around screamed and yelled out in a victorious cheer as I took my fifth in.

Jimmy laughed and grabbed my hand, pulling me in. “Not bad man, not bad. Hope you have a good time now, I sure will be!” He and his friends remained at the bar as Gabi helped me walk away. “Where to?” I ask. “Let’s go hang with the others upstairs.” Nick asks. I slip while making my way up with Ivan catching me. “Whoa! Are you okay?” Gabi asked with Ivan giggling. “I think those five shots might have kicked in.” “I’m fine just admittedly a bit buzzed.” “You’ll wanna sit down once we get there buddy. Hey.” I look up and see Nick smiling down at me. “Hell of a drinking match, bro.” “Thanks haha.” Ivan and Gabi help me reach the main floor and luckily one of the couches had room. I sit down with Gabi next to me and Ivan on the arm rest. “So guys, whatcha doing here?” Nick asks. “We were thinking about trying a few drinking games, make things exciting around here.” One dark skinned guy said. He seemed rather fit and well toned. “Got any ideas Oscar?” Nick asks. He shrugs. “We were thinking maybe Never Have I Ever?” A woman sitting adjacent to me said. She was blonde with a blue blouse and white jeans. “I was going more for Truth or Dare.” Oscar replied. “How about spin the bottle?” Carl recommended.

“Well shoot, which one is it then? Let’s put it to a group vote,” Nick cleared his throat and raised his voice, “Alright show of hands, who’s down for Never Have I Ever? What about Truth or Dare? Spin the Bottle?” He took a minute to count. “Damn it is a god damn draw on the first two.” “Alex didn’t vote.” Gabi mentioned, with me snug in my seat. Everyone turns and stare at me. “Draw breaker.” Carl sneers. “What do you say Alex? Which game we playing?”
