Party Time

A few minutes later we heard a knock we had been waiting on and Nick opened the door. “Hey, it’s party time. You guys ready?” Ivan applies a bit of perfume then nods with me standing up and walking towards the group. Carl slaps my back cheerfully. “You excited?” “A little bit,” I reply smiling. “Don’t worry, you’re gunna love it!” Gabi smiled and all five of us walked down the hallway and to the front door.

A teacher I didn’t recognize was at the front door with a clipboard taking names of anyone who left, she seemed to be in her sixties and showing, rather thin but a few wrinkles on her face with gray hair and a long polka dot summer dress. Red rimmed glasses and a few bracelets on her left wrist. She turned towards us when we came around and stopped us. “Names?”

“Nick Maze.” “Carl Winters.” “Gabi Orozco.” “Ivan Eres.” “Alex Lopez.” She wrote our names down and smiled, “Have a nice night you kids. Be safe!” “Will do Mrs. Hayes!” Nick smiled back and responded as we walked out. “So how do we get there, is it far?” I asked. “It’s fine, Nick has a car we can carpool in.” Gabi replied. Nick tapped on his car alarm and a red Chevrolet truck at the parking lot blinked. “2008 model, it’s my baby. Don’t stain the seats or make a mess cuz I will make you clean up.” We laughed and got into the car, Nick and Carl in the front with Gabi and Ivan in the back and me in between. It was a nice 20 minute drive before we arrived there. “This is it.” Nick said as he parked the car and stepped out. We all followed and I looked up to find the area full of parked cars and one very large lake house that seemed to be two floors up. “Damn!” “Yea, that’s what we all said.” Gabi joked as we walked towards it.
