Chapter 5

Please, let something change today.
A disturbance in the ...field.
Outside the quarantine home
"Shit! Persistent bastards, they just don't give up, do they?" a lone woman breathes. She's already well off the map. Very few heroes even know this space exists; fewer still would care to go to it. There's nothing out here; the only reason anybody would come out this far into literal nowhere is if they were trying to avoid every other living soul. Or if they were pursuing someone who had just made off with enough evidence of their hacking to have them all erased if she could make it to a temple.
Renewed shouts behind her spurred the woman to redouble her pace. She didn't have the right build for this; sure, she was a ranger, but she'd spent too much time specializing in bow skills and let her agility fall behind. If she had lived her life as a rogue, she might have been able to get away before it came to this.
Even in these circumstances, she chuckled at herself. The skin-tight leathers and funny "stealthy" walk--she couldn't see herself as a rogue. Being a ranger had been fun, but if she had to do it all over again... Yeah. She'd want to be a healer.
A sharp whistle caught her ear too late. An even sharper pain blossomed in her lower back. She grit her teeth and stumbled, but stayed standing. Fighting through the feeling of an arrow stuck in her back, she pressed forward.
Now the shouts behind were close enough to make out. "I got her!"
"Was it the Eraser?"
"Yep! She's as good as gone!"
"Don't stop! Until we see her dying, she's still a risk!"
"Shit," she curses again. At this point there's really no chance, is there. She's already tagged; next time she dies, she'll be gone forever. They'll get away with it. She won't be able to tell anyone. She doesn't even have a party that will notice she's gone. Smiling in self deprecation, resigned to her total defeat, she shuts her eyes and simply allows herself to just fall forward.
She falls. And falls. And a bit more. She should have hit the ground by now, so she opens her eyes a bit--only to find that she's falling down a hill and is about to hit the start of the slope. Reflexively she balls up to roll. Her body hits the soil and she tumbles, the arrow in her back scraping along the ground and finally snapping off. Ye gods, it hurt like all Nine Hells together; it made the pain of being shot in the back feel like getting a dragon flu shot.
Ever downward she tumbled until she finally came to a stop. Glancing at her HP, she wasn't dead yet. The poison was working quickly, though, and the fall damage on top of that wasn't helping. Looking up, she found herself at the bottom of a basin. It looked like a bowl cut into the landscape, all made to keep one singular house at its center.
Shouts above caught her attention.
"What the Hell's this? A barrier?"
"Get it down! Shit! How did she get through it!?"
"Probably the Eraser; she doesn't exist anymore, so the barrier couldn't do anything to stop her."
"Well, destroy this barrier! We need to get her!"
"But the poison will-"
"And if she has an antidote for it? I'm not taking that chance!"
They can hack. A barrier won't stop them. The house probably won't either, but it's worth at least looking into. She drags herself up to her feet and stumbles to the door. She tries to turn the handle, but finds it locked. But... Oddly enough, when she looks down, she sees the key sitting in the handle. She gives it a twist and tries the handle again. It turns, and the door swings inward with a tremendous creak, as though the hinges haven't been used in a very long time.
The woman staggers inside, grabs the key, and shuts the door behind her. She locks it again, this time from the inside, and prays that maybe, somehow, that will be enough to stop them. On top of that, this house has to contain a top-notch antidote. And as long as we're wishing, let's just add a private altar to communicate with the gods, too.
She chuckles at herself, then turns to begin exploring the house.
The fist thing she sees, laying on the ground in front of her, is a fully nude woman pumping a large, purple object in and out of her pussy. Her jaw drops at the sight, amazed that something so fat can seem to slide in so effortlessly. Then the two make eye contact (the woman's hands not slowing in the slightest).
"Uh, hi," is all the visitor can think to say.
Back to you!
