Cassie and Spencer make things clear

"So, uhh, could you show me the shower?"

"Sure, just next to the guest room."

"You wanna join?" Cassie asked.

"I think I need a moment to recover."

"Okay then."

Cassie walked off to the shower, her heart pounding like a jackhammer. Part of her wanted to feel bad for her now ex-boyfriend, but the few days in Avonwick had made her realize how much he was holding her down. She didn't need a college boy, she needed a man. A man who had his life together, and was caring. She needed Spencer. Even the thought of the rugged bachelor got her worked up.

After drying off, Cassie went to her room, where she got dressed and grabbed her phone. Her notifications informed her of Brad's frantic texts and calls, which would only receive one reply: 'It's over.'

Back in the living room, Cassie found Spencer sipping a coffee. "I can make you one if you want?"

"It's fine."

"You okay?"

"Yeah."

"Have you told him?"

"Yeah, but I'll probably have to tell him another ten times."

"Well, you did the right thing."

"Thanks Spencer... Seriously. For showing me how a man should treat me."

Cassie kissed Spencer on the lips before he pushed her away. In returned she shot him a befuddled look. "What's wrong?"

"Look Cassie, I just want to make sure we're clear. I'm not really sure this is anything serious, you know?"

"That's fine Spencer. We're adults, right?"

After a sight of relief, Spencer smiled "Right. Just wanted to make sure we're clear."

"Crystal."
