Chapter 36 by grimbous grimbous

What's next?

Breakfast with Aunt Peg

When you awake again you have only a swiftly fading dim sense of your dreams for the second half of the night. Your only memory...long soft scarlet hair running through your fingers.

You open your eyes to watch the room brighten before your eyes. Your aunt, already up and dressed, was opening the heavy curtains to the window that looked out over her back yard. Your bleary awakening eyes squint to see the hourglass form of your aunt silhouetted by the bright window behind her. You feel Elsie also stir at your side and groan in protest.

"Hmm?" She sits up rubbing her eyes, you sit up as well.

"Good morning my dears." Your aunt says in a smooth but cheerful tone. "Rise and shine. You two have school today."

"Awwww man." El moans. "We were up so late."

"You can catch up tomorrow night." Peg assures her. She strolls over and leans down to kiss Elsie and then you. She was obviously in a great mood. "Mmm, I can't remember the last time I slept so well. Thank you guys." She stands and heads towards the door. "Come on, I'll make you guys breakfast."

Elsie laughs. "Up for school? Snuggles? Breakfast? Man you're a great Mom. Chloe was so lucky."

Peg looks over her shoulder, her expression one of gentle melancholy. "It's been quiet around here since she left." She then cheers up once more. "It'll be nice to have someone to cook for again. Now come on you two, up and at'em!" She claps her hands then disappears out the door.

Elsie leans over and gives you a big hug. "Morning brother."

"Mornin Sis." You hug her back, each of you taking a moment to enjoy the embrace.

"Or should I say...master?" She giggles.

You shake your head. "Uh, I think we can skip that now, don't you?"

She nods. "Yeah, sure was fun though. Really fun." She then blushes. "Um. Do...do you think...Felix...?"

You guffaw. She was already thinking about playing **** for Felix!? Jesus Christ, lucky guy!!! "Ha ha ha! Woah there El, not so fast!"

She giggles. "I know! I didn't mean soon! Geez! Ha ha ha! I was just wondering. Ha ha ha!"

The mood is full of good humor as the pair of you wash up and get dressed. Both of you **** to wear what you had on yesterday as you hadn't brought a change of clothes. Soon the pair of you are heading downstairs. Following your nose you find yourself in the kitchen, your aunt stood over the stove wearing a long blue apron which protected her work clothes from the delicious smelling breakfast she had sizzling in the pan.

She turns and smiles, she motions with her chin over toward the nearby dining room table.

At the table you saw a carafe of coffee and a big jug of orange juice waiting for you. Three settings had been laid out with fresh fruit and croissants already on the plates. Peg had been up for some time. You and El take your seats.

"Mmmm, bacon smells so good!" You say.

Peg nods. "Mm, yeah. Sure does." She looks at you for a few seconds, as if in thought, and then turns back to cook.

Taking the pan from the stove she walks over and gently places a puffy sort of omelette onto your plate. She heads back to the stove then grabs one for her and El that had already been prepared. She returns and takes a seat.

She beams at you and your sister, obviously happy for the company.

She waves you to eat. "Go ahead Jesse. Try it."

"Oh! Uh, sure." You nod. You pinch off a piece of the omelette with your fork and stuff it in your mouth. You munch it down in a flash. "Mmmm! Good!"

She was looking at you funny. "Oh? In what way?"

"Uh." You hadn't been prepared to actually analyze it. "It...it's just good!" You grin.

She shakes her head. "Meaningless."

"Huh?"

"Why is it good Jesse?" She presses. "Surely there is a reason."

"Oh..." You look at Elsie. She had a cute grin, her brown eyes twinkling. She didn't know what was going on either but she was enjoying watching it. You turn back to your aunt. "It...uh...mmm, bacon!" You quip jokingly.

Your aunt nods. "Bacon is very good. Yes. Is that why you like it?"

You chuckle. "Yes! I mean, why else? Bacon is great! Nothing better."

She nods again. She takes a small bite herself. "Mmm. Yes, the bacon is good. So smoky and salty. Truly delicious. Yum. But...I think I like...mmm...the texture of the mushroom...the sweetness of the carmelized onion...mmm...ohh, the herbes de provence is coming out now...wow, so many flavors..." She closes her eyes, a smile across her lips as she savors her creation. "The butter is playing it's part. Don't you think?" She takes a long breath in through her nose. "The eggs...hmm...maybe a few seconds too long on the pan. But that's okay, I appreciate them and they do taste good too. Without them there would be no omelette." Her eyes still closed she is so caught up in the experience she actually bursts out into a giggle. "He he he! Oh...that pinch of paprika...what a tease she is. Mmm."

You look at El then back to her again. What the hell? You'd just tasted...bacon.

Peggy slowly opens her eyes and looks at you. "Why don't you try it again Jesse? Go slower this time." She is smiling a patient smile.

You look down at your plate and study it a moment, as if a mystery lay there before you. Again you slice off a portion of the omelette. This time, much more slowly, you carefully place it into your mouth. You begin to chew.

Your aunt nods. "Now concentrate Jesse. Just...be mindful. It's not hard. Do you taste the onions?"

You glance back and forth between your aunt and sister as you chewed. You suddenly felt like you were taking a test. You were worried you were somehow eating the wrong way.

Peg laughs at your taut expression. "Not so serious. Enjoy it. Food is meant to be enjoyed."

You nod and try to relax. Onions? Onions? All you could taste was the bacon. Just the big smoky hit of...wait...no. There it was. Sweet and succulent. Subtle but unmistakable. A small part of the whole, but a crucial element that would be missed if it wasn't there. The onions were fantastic. You swallow with a bright grin. "Hey, I taste them. Those are pretty good!"

Peggy nods. "Aren't they? Maybe not as...intense as the bacon. But delicious in their own way."

You take another bite. Again, taking time to concentrate on the other flavors. The bacon was the dominant initial taste but now that you were looking for the others they soon emerged. The herbs were savory. The mushrooms dark and earthy. The eggs soft and puffy perfection. As you swallow a delightfully salty rime of grease is left behind. You wash it all down with a swallow of the tart mouth watering OJ.

"Oh man!" You marvel. "This is amazing!" Your already really good omelette had somehow transformed itself into something transcendent! What magic was this?

Peg smiles and begins to eat in earnest. "And the bacon is still there for you, isn't it? In all it's incredible and powerful glory."

You nod. "Yeah...but now...it's even better!"

You notice Elsie beginning to eat. Now she too was taking careful bites, focusing on what she was experiencing. After a few chews she too looks up in amazement. She nods happily and hungrily takes another bite.

The three of you continue your meal. The conversation is sparse but pleasant. All of you seemed consumed with savoring this incredible breakfast. When you finish you and El clear the table and do the clean up. Seemed like the least you could do after such a wonderful meal.

Peg gathers a satchel, her laptop, and a few papers. She returns to the kitchen as you and El were finishing up. She passes Elsie a house key. "Just lock up when you leave. I've got to get going. And don't even think of skipping school you two." She playfully waggles a finger at you, playful yet earnest. "School is important. My niece and nephew have bright futures ahead of them. I know it!"

Elsie looks at the key for a long moment. Slowly she reaches and takes it from Peg's hand. "Um..." She looks up at her aunt. "...I'll...I'll see you tonight. When you get home."

Peg's brows raise in surprise, but she doesn't say a word of protest. She simply nods. "Very well Elsie."

You clue in a few seconds later. El was going to spend another night here. She had told you that Peg had offered her a room any time she wanted it. Was El taking Peg up on that offer? Was Elsie moving out of the house!?

Your aunt turns to you and gives you a quick hug. "It was so nice to see you Jesse. Don't be a stranger okay? Lesson three should be a fun one." With that she gives you a peck on the cheek and heads off toward the door.

Ah yes, the "lessons". Wait a second...lesson three? She said the cuddling was lesson one. But what the hell was lesson two? Did you skip one? All you did was eat breakfa....ohhhhhhh!

As Peggy opens the door to leave she turns back. "Oh, and good luck with your new friends." She gives you a wink and is on her way.

(LOL Aunt Peg, the Mr Miyagi of sex.)
