Chapter 8
by CrocodileHAZARD
So...are you going to properly communicate with the Titans now?
Relay your story to the other Titans. But omit a few details.
You retell your story, in English this time, to the rest of the Titans. After everyone had sufficiently gathered their wits. Although Raven was unable to meet your gaze after that...heated makeout.
Anyway, the story you tell is largely the same as the one relayed to them before by Starfire. A few of the details are different between tellings, but most of them figure it's just a hiccup Star made in translation. Robin, however, is a bit cautious since in his line of work, even minor differences in detail generally did not bode well in the long run. Still, he's willing to give you the benefit of the doubt for now.
And truthfully, your only lies were those of omission. They did not have any need to know precisely what happened during you and the other prisoners' captivity beyond the fact that you were experimented on and given drastically altered powers as a consequence of the Gordanian's tampering.
Cyborg offers to help run some tests on you, immediately triggering a subconscious flinch from you and the temperature to drop a few degrees. It is out of character for her to yell, but Starfire does so, reprimanding her fellow Titan for the insensitivity he unintentionally displayed. Even though he meant well, he does recognize that the last thing you want right not is to once again be hooked up to needles and wires so someone else can 'find out what makes you tick'.
He apologizes for the carelessness on his part, and you accept after recognizing no trait that suggests he intended to make you uncomfortable. After things have been mended between you two, Robin then asks what you plan to do. He asks if you need a lift back to your home planet, but you immediately refuse.
You mention that as you are now, you are practically an abomination. While that much is true, the real reason you are not eager to return is because you feel far too guilty to return to Tamaran when everyone else who was captured alongside you are dead. You feel like you do not deserve to return. At least, not for the foreseeable future.
Obviously, this causes some debate with the other Titans. Starfire and Cyborg believe that they should offer you a place in their Tower, at least for a short period of time. Robin believes it to be too dangerous for everyone, including yourself. Beast Boy is not denying the option out of malice towards you, but he is convinced that the Tower does not have the means to handle you should your powers go out of control again. It's subtle, but you can tell that Robin has somewhat swayed the changeling's opinion by mentioning how the Tower could not remain structurally sound if you were ever in a condition that changed the environment to subzero temperatures.
It is an even split of 2-2. The only one who has not weighed in on the matter is Raven.
What does she think?
Welcome to Jump City
Titans, go!
You are a new face to the world of the Teen Titans. Are you a hero? A villain? How will your actions and choices affect Jump City and the world as a whole?
