The silver Ring of Negation

Leo thought about his choice for several seconds, then reached out and grabbed the silver ring. He almost immediately slipped it onto his left ring finger, just to be safe.

"Good choice," Ray said, slipping the gold one onto his own ring finger.

"Well you seem more comfortable with the gold one," Leo explained.

"Yeah, it's weird trying to think backwards when trying to intentionally ask people questions I want to be true," Ray admitted, "So, you mentioned something about the hands. What would of happened if I put the rings on my right hand?"

"You'd still have the power, but your mind would be just as affected by the changes as everyone else's," Leo answered.

"Oh damn, I lucked out there then," Ray said, blue eyes wide at the thought of what could have happened, "Wonder why they're like that."

Leo shrugged, "I dunno. I only know how they work, not their history or anything like that."

"Oh, right," Ray said, "Well, who cares what made them? The two of us are basically the Gods of Yes and No now! We can do whatever we want, right?"

Leo held up the finger with his new ring on it, "Lucky I'm wearing this, or you would have just made me a power obsessed hedonist. You need to be careful what you say when wearing these things."

"Oh crap, you have a point," Ray said with a frown, "Yeah, we should be careful."

"And take them off when we're done," Leo added.

"That too," Ray said, before asking eagerly, "So, since we both have the day off, how about taking these babies out for a spin? Now that you're on board, we can have some real fun."

"I dunno," Leo said hesitantly. He knew from growing up with him that his brother, despite being clever, wasn't the type of guy to think things through ahead of time. Who knows what kind of crazy crap he might end up doing unintentionally.

"Come on, it'll be great!" Ray said, throwing an arm around his twin's shoulder, "Ray and Leo, Gods of Yes and No, getting people to agree and disagree to whatever they want, and making the world a better place in the process! Besides, you can't tell me you don't want to use that ring for something."

"Alright, alright," Leo relented, "We can do it. But seriously, we need to be careful. Take things slow until we get the hang of it. We don't want to end up screwing things beyond repair."

"Yes!" Ray said, grabbing his apartment keys, "Let's go! I know just the place to go where we can play around with these."

Leo sighed, then followed his brother out the door. He had a very bad feeling about this, but had to admit that Ray had a way of making even the worst ideas sound worth doing. Or maybe Leo just wasn't as disturbed with the idea of radically changing the world as he first thought. Either way, he hoped he wouldn't just be stuck doing damage control all day.
