John wakes in his cell

John awoke in his cell, groggy with a vague memory of what Momma had said.

Holly heard him stirring. “Oh, thank goodness! I didn’t think you were ever going to wake up! I’ve been worried about you.”

“What happened,” John asked. “The last thing I remember was being in Momma’s cell.”

“Well, you freaked out and ran from Momma’s cell, screaming. The computer had to repeatedly punish you. Honestly, I’ve never seen ANYONE get shocked as much as you did.”

“That’s why I’m hurting so much”, John replied.

Holly coughed slightly. “Among other things.”

John didn’t like the tone of her voice. “What do you mean, other things?”

“When you were shocked for the final time, you fell, hard, face first against a bench. I’ve never see so much blood before. I heard the bones break from where I was standing.”

Holly shuddered before she continued.

“So they took you to medical to repair the damage. And apparently decided to do a few other things too.”

“What other things? How long have I been ****.” John asked, not really wanting an answer.

“The system just brought you back last night. But it’s been almost a month,” Holly said quietly.

“A MONTH?”
