Chapter 64 by switching switching

A Decision's Been Made

Tell Duke Renard First

Telling the Duke, the man who will ultimately consent to the wedding, would be prudent. Though you highly doubt he'd say no to you offering marriage to his daughter. What man wouldn't want his daughter to become queen. Needless to say, the man almost jumped in joy when you told him you wanted to marry his daughter. His wife was no less overjoyed and clamped her hands over her mouth to hide her huge, near face-tearing grin. You hear her whisper, "At long last, she's getting married."

You get their attention again and inform him of your agreement with Duchess Eliza. A startled look appears in their faces but you explain to them that your child with Eliza will become ruler Toscana only. "My King," Renard starts, "you can have all the mistresses and bastards you want just as long you put them in the line of succession! Ever!"

You slowly tilt your head while narrowed eyes glare intensely at Renard. "Please don't tell me what to do, Duke." It was a pleading request. It was a strict command blanketed in kind words. Renard was smart enough to catch that. "Of course, my King. It's just that-"

"I understand," you say more kindly this time. "You want your grandchild to be the next king. I would too if I were you." You smile genially at them. But had you been any more sadistic, you would be laughing inside. Dietrich keeps his straight face. "So are we clear?"

"Of course, we're clear." Renard says nodding, "Aren't we, dear?" He asks his wife. "Yes, yes. Clear as crystal." Renard takes his wife's hand and plants a kiss on it. "Well then," says Duke Renard's wife, "shall we inform Camilla? She will be thrilled to know of this." She delightfully squealed.

Now For Lady Camilla
