A terrifying black dragon

You see a Terrifying black dragon with red eyes. It has spikes down it's back and forming a spiked club on its tail. The spines, claws horns and spikes are all red with black at the bottom giving them the appearance they have been dipped in blood. You know from experience that it can breathe fire. You also know that it is at least kind and smart enough to feed you and recognise your parents when they visit.

The day after your birthday and you hear a commotion from the courtyard. Looking down you see a knight fighting the dragon. The knight has succeeded in sticking a lance into the dragon's shoulder. However, the dragon had swung its spiked tail into the knight's horse which lay bleeding on the floor. The knight had just enough time to draw a sword before having to dodge a glut of fire.

"Die, Demon!" the Knight shouted. He charged only to get a claw to the face. The knight dropped to the ground. The dragon pounced and bit off the knight's head. He would not be the one to save you.

You look away as the dragon starts to peel off the dead knight's armour. It would have a feast tonight and sleep it off. You notice that the knight's sword had broken and part of it had slid under the bottom of the door to your tower. This could be a chance.
