Emily's wrists chafed from the handcuffs. She had never imagined they would be so uncomfortable! The closest she had ever gotten to being arrested before was a ticket for underage drinking at a house party, and everybody got those. But this was way more serious. She knew that her parents were going to lose it on her, and it was too late to stop her mom from finding out about it. Odds were good that college wasn't in the cards anymore if she got charged with something serious, either. What kind of school accepted someone with a public indecency conviction on her record?
The police officer got in the front seat and put the key in the ignition. He didn't say a word to her. Was that normal? She could see his eyes looking into the back seat at her. Apparently he didn't have a problem gawking at her naked body, he just had a problem with her showing it off in front of a crowd. What a hypocrite.
"Uh," Emily said. She was barely able to find her voice.
"What?" the officer said gruffly.
"What happens next?" she said.
They were driving already, out from the city center. The convention was downtown, and everyone knew it was a nightmare driving around downtown while the convention was going on. Cityfolk knew that it was better to actually leave the city and re-enter somewhere else rather than trying to handle all of the traffic. That meant that the cruiser was driving through farmland.
"I'm taking you to the station," the officer said. "And then we'll deal with you properly."
Emily's heart was pounding. She didn't know what that meant, but she knew it couldn't be good. Were they going to keep her in a holding cell? That would definitely end badly, there was no way of getting around it. Especially if they insisted on keeping her naked.
