Chapter 12 by Nemo of Utopia Nemo of Utopia

* Oops; How Do You Get Out Of This? *

* "No, But You've Got Kind Of A Rep..." *

"No, but you've got kind of a rep Garry," you begin, spinning a web of deceit, "You typically have three or four girlfriends at once and are known as a braggart and a loudmouth. You insult people for no reason and are childishly petulant when you don't get your way. You are supercilious and callus, your ego is fragile, and you are incontestibly braggadocious," You respond, and Garry looks at you like you just slapped him, then his eyes flash with anger.

"And you, apparently, are not only judgemental but prejudicial as well. What would a Gaijin like you know about the behavior of a person from Nihon? Yes, I have four girlfriends, who will become my wives once I am established in my profession of Pokémon Researcher, and they all not only know about each other but are completely fine with our arrangements. I have been nothing but unfailingly polite and conversational to you, which YOU have responded to with insults and childish petulance so if that's my reputation I would advise you to consider your own. Lastly, as for my being 'Braggadocious', that's not even a real word in your OWN language, and I strongly recommend you cease quoting the most hated man on the face of the Earth if you wish people to take you seriously: Good DAY!" He says and turns away from your stunned look of shock to stare off into the middle distance, fuming.

You shortly arrive at professor oak's lab and pile out into the area for choosing the Pokémon, whereupon the virtues of the various breeds are explained.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, I have for you three each of the 'Kanto League Starter Pokémon' from my breeding kennels. When we run out of one type those remaining may also choose from those left and the 'Fourth Form' Pokémon, Pikachu. Should we run out of a second type that is unfortunate, but there is no league approved second backup Pokémon." Professor Oak Begins.

"The Four Kanto League Starter Pokémon each have strengths and weaknesses," Professor oak holds up four fingers.

"Fushigidane, the grass type, is a strong choice for those with an affinity for nature. It can easily help you capture other Pokemon and find food in the wild where you will spend a lot of your time if you are a serious trainer. Fushigidane is considered Pokemon 001 in the Kanto Pokédex. Thus, if you are one of those people who must begin at the beginning, this would be a good Pokémon for you. Defensively it is resistant to Fighting, Grass, Electric, and Fairy type moves, and weak against Flying, Fire, Psychic, and Ice Type moves. As with all of these Pokémon the Fushigidane is newly hatched, and so will enter your service knowing only Tackle." Profesor Oak says enumerating the virtues of the Fushigidane. The pinky finger goes down.

"Hitokage, the fire type, is the only one of the four which can become a flying mount for its owner, which will enable you to get around the world quickly and efficiently. As a fire type, it is defensively resistant to Bug, Steel, Fire, Grass, Ice, and Fairy type moves and weak to Ground, Rock, and Water-Type moves. Each of these Hitokages will enter your service knowing the moves Scratch and Growl," Profesor Oak says enumerating the virtues of the Hitokage. The ring finger goes down.

"Zenigame, the water type, is the only one of the starting Pokémon which can learn Surf, allowing you to travel across the seas to visit other islands and catch major water types, such as Gyarados. It also is believed by some that it is the best Pokémon for challenging the Kanto League championships, as it has the most type advantages. It is resistant to Steel, Fire, Water, and Ice Type moves, but weak against Grass and Electric. It will enter your service knowing only Tackle." Profesor Oak says enumerating the virtues of the Zenigame. The middle finger goes down.

"And last, we have the Pikachu; an Electric type. Pikachu was not originally one of the Kanto League Pokémon starters, but as the popularity of Pokémon ownership has increased there has come to be a need for a fourth choice, and as you can see from today's drawing there may soon need to be a fifth. The Pikachu is known as the Electric Mouse Pokémon. At one point they were considered vermin, but they have been recognized as an important part of the ecosystem in many areas. Electric types like the Pikachu are resistant to Flying, Steel, and Electric-type moves while being weak only to Ground-type moves. Pikachu is the only member of this group that does not start out just hatched, being born as the Pokemon Pichu which must be trained in order to evolve into Pikachu. Thus the will begin knowing the moves Tail Whip, Thundershock, and Growl." Profesor Oak says enumerating the virtues of the Pikachu. The index finger goes down.

As the last winner of the raffle, you get to pick dead last and have only two options; a Pikachu or...

* What's Your Other Choice, And What Did Garry Pick? *
