Chapter 8

The only question left is how do you respond? What is next?
Leave
Having sat across from you but in front of the office desk, your dad stands up. "With the contract being all but taken care of, I think its about time you start your first day of work. Don’t you agree, Ms. Vanderbilt?”
With eyes widening in alarm you put your hand up in a gesture to stop. “Before starting work, it would be best for me to at least sign a standard contract, just to protect our financial security …?…” Uncharacteristically your father, Mr. Kristopher XCV Vanderbilt, waited for you to continue. “The company’s financial security is what I meant to say. The incorporation protects you from financial liability while on company time."
“Moreover, isn't mother reading any contact before I signed it; one of your cardinal rules.”
Another idea that is more immediate Dawn’s on you; And, that is you may want to figure out a way out of his office before his desire to breed you exceeds his good sense of prudence and temperance.
Rising to your own feet, “Well, it seems Uncle Tony is going to be taking a bit longer to write the amendments into the contract. In addition, it is probably a good idea for me to grab ‘some leather’ and replace my wardrobe with what we agreed on.” Unable to help yourself, you slide a hand up his chest to take his ‘leather’ from the inside breast pocket; That, was while your other hand reached down and around his waist to get closer and more physically intimate with Daddy.
You never thought of Daddy that way before but the idea is strangely appealing even as it is disturbing. Having slipped a platinum credit card from his billfold, you deftly and gracefully extricate yourself from the compromising situation. Yet, your almost positive he will make you pay for this teasing at some future point in time.
Necessity again proved the mother of all inventions, as the situation demanded a greater degree of alacrity and grace than when you entered Daddy’s office complex. Only when you slipped into the subway train to the mall did you allow yourself the time to regain control of your breathing and heart rate.
Slutty, active, but professional were the domains guiding your shopping spree. Shopping was unusually draining, but There was the type of clothing your where searching for, combined with the fact your own father would be the one to benefit the most out of what you picked added some sick adrenaline thrill to it. When you were leaving your father's office He was strangely mute; And as you look down at your phone, which your boyfriend, the man that your father is currently replacing, bought for you the apps Google Voice and Hangouts, your MiPadd was bereft of receiving any texts from him or mother.
Therefore, the shopping spree was without spending limits. A mental, good angel, reminded you of the contract that would be undoubtedly waiting for your signature at home. You would likely be ‘paying’ for what you bought one way or another. For once, prudence won the contest for your attention.
By the end of the day you had an entire wardrobe in two neon pink Pelican 1615 Air Cases and a smaller Pelican iM2050 Storm Case, of the same color, as a carry-on for trips away from the office and home. As well as a Pelican case for her iPad.

That ate into your budget but the expenditure would undoubtedly impress both mother and Daddy. It was almost too much for the uber driver to take home with you.
The grand total was a couple hundred over two grand, and easily qualified as the most expensive shopping spree in your life.
Your home was empty when you got there; Except for the kitchen, where your mother an father seemingly waited. Seemingly, from the abrupt muffled end to the conversation you heard, mid-sentence. The doorway was only covered by strings of pearls that hung dish from the top.
“So honey, how was she?” Your mother asked with genuine enough interest, though you suspect this was a pre-scripted interaction.
The response from Daddy would be equally scripted but again seemed genuine enough. “she was felicitous. If the assignments in the private high school we paid for, saw half that wit, she would be going to an Ivy League university this fall; Instead of working for me.” He was even chuckling.
That was when your mother was deemed to notice you, “Oh good, baby, you’re back from your shopping trip.”
All the response your father gave was the expected proffered hand for the ‘credit card & receipts’ that you accumulated.
Displaying the wit that came naturally, Daddy assessed the numbers all in his head for a few moments before speaking. You took the opportunity to talk a chair on the other side of the table from your parents.
You had left your four new suitcases near the stairway up to your room. Silently hoping your father would help carry them up. Yet with his new attitude towards you, you wonder how much he is willing actually to help. Of course, you know he loves you, but now all was a test or exercise.
“Excellent just under three grand; Yet, I see you already anticipated traveling overseas with me, or Uncle Tony to interview potential clients. I can easily work this into company expenses… or rather, you will, later…” Dad places the receipts in his open iM2370CC Storm Case, that was his briefcase, that also held his laptop. “…Now that she is here we can get to the last part of our business.
Mother uncharacteristically asks with an arched eyebrow. Beginning work home, was one of the few prohibitions your mother had and with which your father complied. When asked, while growing up, your mother said simply that every board-room has a chair that heads the group.
Father brought out the contract while mother asked, “You brought some work home?”
In a deep voice that was standard for Daddy, “As I said, she displayed remarkable wit in assessing the discrepancies the standard contract left in remain to actual implementation. It will take but a moment, and she insisted that we apply the rule of you reading any contact before she signs.” He handed her own copy of the contract.
Your mother was a fantastic mom, and she was also a rather accomplished contract lawyer. Part of her accomplishments was excelling in her career despite giving birth to you, and three younger siblings. You can only guess at what she is reading, as she scans the short contract.
Much to your authentic surprise, Mother sets it down and says, “Adequate, it looks like it will do the job.” after you received the official version from Daddy.
The attitude displayed by your mother astonishes you. Your eyes sim over the official contract and everything discussed was there in unusually plain legalese. Either father both breeding and pumping her daughter out failed to bother her, or her ‘copy’ was different than yours.
Causing a scene by questioning your father’s truthfulness with your mother is out of the question. As previously stated, your mother almost always deferred Daddy even in situations which she disagreed with him. Therefore doing that would only cause trouble for yourself, and your own honesty would be put into question as you had already agreed to sign everything that was actually in the contract.
You know you were conceived before they were married, and hence out of wedlock but neither your mother nor father treated you any differently than your siblings. If anything they have given you more leeway than your younger siblings.
“Well your mother read it, I think it’s time for you to sign.” Daddy’s words snap you out of your revery of the scene. He was offering you to use one of his much-coveted pens.
The mechanical movement is all you are temporarily able to muster, as you accept the pen and sign the contract. You feel like you are signing your life away, but a more anyways option was add p escaping your perception. It had been escaping your mind ever since you escaped his office and felt the walls closing in around you.
