John got out of his trance one hour later, and the next flower was only beginning to open. He got more anxious as the moment of her return approached, about her mental state when she would be back. The wait was ****, more so than every time he had to leave his kingdom.

John got up and went to the tree, putting his hand on the rough bark, feeling the massive amount of energy in it. The roots of the massive spirit tree were dipping into the pool formed by the Fountain of Life and through this spreading the life energy into the whole forest. From where he stood, John could see some of the seven strange trees inside of which bodies were growing, soon to become new dryads to be inhabited by nature spirits. He had a great lack of knowledge in the way things worked in this whacky universe. In fact, with the randomness of it, he doubted that much of the information he could find would be reliable.

Was there only one kind of elves, or many like in some fantasy settings, or even more with each variant existing somewhere? It reminded him of the sisters, they were still asleep where he left them. Some of the plants had properties and the use of his knowledge or checks in the manual he had traded helped him find ways to exploit them.

Some had to be dried and turned into powder, other boiled in water. Using the set and the station, John gained new skills that didn't show in his list when he left it.
He could Purify, Concentrate and Mix the various ingredients.

Concentrated, purified sap was worth a lot more than what he had intended to sell the normal stuff earlier and it could work as a base to create potions, elixirs and have other uses.

After many tries John was really happy with one particular result. If he concentrated and purified it enough, he could then use his enchanting set to activate it. Once ready he had a vial of liquid that could transform normal wood into the same enchanted wood he had obtained from the spirit tree and used to make his bed or Sylvia's staff.

Even more impressive was the fact that while using her staff Sylvia could apparently perform this enchantment herself and that she was learning about alchemy very fast, watching him doing things and reading from the book.

John had crafted some small tokens of enchanted wood and had experimented engraving runes into them to see what effects they would produce. The results were encouraging, but individual runes had very minor effects, finding runic words would be hit and miss.

John had received the pop up telling him that he had failed his daily quest, he had chosen this, but he was a lot more worried about the next one. He was worried about what would happen to his kingdom and its inhabitants if anything happened to him, this sense of responsibility was new to him and a very weird one.

He continued for hours, doing tests on different substances, plants and items. Trying to improve his various crafting skills.

One particular batch of something supposed to be a healing balm had very poor effects but a wonderful taste. John ran to the kitchen and began trying it on lizard meat.

He had improved Alchemy to lvl 3, Cooking to lvl 4, Enchantment to lvl 3 and Crafting to lvl 5.

He had dozens of servings of different types of lizard meat dishes in his inventory, all as hot as they were when he made them. He also had prepared 50 bottles of concentrated, purified sap to sell on the auction. A few vials of potions with various effects. He had spent hours preparing new metal balls for his sling and engraved runes in them, hoping to soon test them.

But of all of this, there was something he was even prouder of. He had modified some slime material through alchemy and turned it into some material that was very thin and flexible, but resisted heat. He first had made a pair of gloves for himself to use when cooking or working with fire or hot tools. But soon it struck him and he worked tirelessly on it until he had a body suit Vesta could wear to move around without burning everything and everyone.

With Sylvia's assurance that the two elves wouldn't wake up any time soon, he went to his castle bedroom with her for a nice snuggle and a few hours of sleep before starting a new week.
