You are

You open the door into a small foyer. A furnished living room opens on one side, while a small dining room opens on the other. A set of stairs leads upwards in front of you, and a hallway extend further into the cottage. Wit brief glance to either side you head up the stairs, carrying your case. At the top of the stairs there is a small landing with three doors. One is standing open, revealing a bathroom, the other two are closed, at either end of the landing.

With a mental shrug you go left, opening a door onto a modest but comfortable bedroom. You stand in the doorway and look around, taking in the bed, a dresser and a closet. It's above spartan and certainly comfortable, no better than you were expecting. With a sigh you toss your case on the bed and unzip it, flipping the top open. In five minutes you have put your clothes away, and put your empty case in the closet.

With your hands on your hips, you look around the room again, deciding to go explore the campus.
