Three Tastes In One: Part 1
}We need to check the news, see if this is an isolated incident.{ I say, already guessing it's not from the sound of sirens in the distance...
Hannah rummages in her duffle for her cell-phone and looks up the local CBS affiliate, then looks pale and suggests we turn on the T.V.
The big flat screen in the living room comes to life, and most channels are showing that 'bars of colors' thing but we tune in to CBS and an elderly woman with hornrim glasses comes on, looking grim, and already speaking.
"-ame is Missus Grace Clearwater, and I will be your anchor for the foreseeable future, or at least as long as this station remains on the air," The old woman begins.
"As of 20 minutes ago the majority of the human race appears to have been transformed into the fictional creatures known as 'Pokémon'. President Obama has declared a state of national emergency, following up on similar declarations from the majority of the planet," Grace continues.
"We have reports of riots, arson, and mass suicide from every corner of the globe, and this isn't the worst of it. Additionally to the people who have become Pokémon: there appears to be another form the transformation can take: 'Trainers'. These are individuals who look much like themselves, but are changed into 3D cartoons and have a set of 8 'Pokéballs'. These individuals have been observed capturing 'Pokémon' and forcing them to battle: often to the ****. President Obama has declared this action to be a form of Human Trafficking and illegal. If you are watching this broadcast and are a 'Trainer' who has 'captured' Pokémon already, a one week 'Grace Period' is being offered. Release your captured Pokémon and smash their Pokéballs: that done you will be held blameless. After one week from the moment of transformation, you will be considered guilty of **** and unlawful imprisonment among other charges. All citizens who have unused Pokéballs, however you acquired them, call your local police department to have an officer come collect them: No Questions will be asked," Mrs. Grace Clearwater explains.
"All citizens are urged to stay in their homes wherever possible. A blanket curfew is in effect for the next three days: anyone found on the streets other than emergency personnel will be escorted home or to a designated shelter area. This will only be done once: a second offense will result in arrest and incarceration. In the event your food supplies have run out, call this number and deputies will deliver a case of 20 MRE packages per person currently staying in your household," Mrs. Grace Explains as the following appears on the screen.
(818) 555-3663
The screen switches back to Grace. "There are also reports of mass **** and nation wide prison breaks: if you are still human or humanoid and own a firearm we suggest you keep it loaded and on your person at least until the curfews are lifted. Furthermore you should be aware that the Acting Governor of the State of of Pennsylvania, Michael J. Stack III, has declared state wide Martial Law. Some other states are following suit, while parts of the Midwest and Southwest are, quote: 'refusing to panic', and remain with only the temporary national curfews," Mrs Clearwater adjusts her glasses.
"Let me sum all that up. Stay at home. Go armed if you can. Call eight-one-eight, five-five-five, three-six-six-three if you completely run out of safe food. If you have become a 'Trainer' do not capture 'Pokémon', you will be arrested. Above ALL; Don't Panic!"
"Further information can be found at USA.gov or by calling your local police departments' NON-Emergency Number. This station will attempt to re-initiate regular broadcasts of live coverage of the unfolding events as soon as the remaining human/humanoid staff can figure out how all the equipment works..." Mrs Clearwater says, then looks directly at the camera one last time.
"Please remember, the Pokémon were people until a few minutes ago, and are still sentient beings: they are your neighbors, church members, fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, cousins, and friends. Don't kill them, try not to hurt them, and don't ever think that enslaving them with a Pokéball is OK," Mrs Clearwater's eyes fill with tears. "Vincent, if you're watching, I love you no matter what: for God's sake stay safe!" And with that the screen goes back to the colored bars, before the words:
[Emergency News Bulletin]
[Will Now Repeat.]
... comes up, and we switch it off.
}So it's not just us, It's everywhere.{ I say with a fearful mental tremble.
"Vul.", "Sen.", "Ax.", "Guess So.", Everyone responds, still reeling from the shock of the past half hour...
}Oh my gosh! What about your brothers and sisters Janet? Some of them must be transformed into Pokémon too!{ I exclaim, and rush upstairs...

On October 30th, 2016, the world goes mad. When they disappear a few seconds later those who they touched are changed: they have either become Pokémon (including some new kinds) or changed into cartoon versions of people.
