Chapter 3 by Lyingbastard Lyingbastard

What does Shae have in mind?

She wants you to set an example

Shae took another sip of netra'gal before continuing. "I know you didn't grow up in our culture, and that you're still learning our ways. But you should know most of us marry young and start families. And a lot of the clans think it's high time you did the same."

"Me? When did this become about me?" The Outlander asked.

"When you defeated Arcann. A Mandalorian, not by blood but by choice, defeating the tyrant who crushed the Jedi and the Sith. The clans couldn't wait to sign up to fight alongside you against Vaylin. The hero who saved the Galaxy, a Mandalorian. That's a powerful legend to make. But now that the fighting is stopped, they want you to act like you're still one of us. Find a wife. Raise children by the resol'nare. Make sure they grow up mando'ade and not aruetii. Start your own clan. I could use the support," she said.

"I'm guessing that means a Mandalorian bride," he said, wondering how he was going to handle that discussion with Lana.

Shae grinned, an uncommon expression for her. "Don't knock it until you've tried it. Besides, you're ori'mandokarla, you're kote'la, and you're loaded. That'll make you ori'copyc for sure. Doesn't hurt that you're easy on the eyes. Mando girls like scars," she said, reaching forward and, with a gentle fingertip, tracing the jagged line from his left eyebrow, down and across his broad face to the right side of his jaw. It was the mark of a shockwhip's lash from when he'd stood between the overseer and another **** the Gamorrean had been punishing, many years before. Shae had said he had 'the right stuff' for Mando culture - the guts and spirit of a Mandalorian - as well as having glory, and that gave him great appeal. "While that would be the preferred option, it's not your only one. You've got plenty of options already among your allies. Your darjetii woman, Lana, for starters. She's got the right stuff, showed it when we were fighting Revan back on Yavin IV. Think she'd be willing to ditch those robes for some proper armor?"

The Outlander shook his head. "Unlikely. Her fighting style depends on using the Dark Side of the ****, agility, and speed. I think she'd find heavy plates to be distracting and a hindrance, not a benefit," he admitted.

"Scout armor isn't so bad. Helmet, breastplate, gauntlets, bracers, belt, jetpack, and shin guards, mostly. Talk it over with her, see what she thinks. Unless you want to go with someone who's already accustomed to wearing armor," Shae said.

Like who?
