Is the journey without mishap?
No: bandits attack on the road!
The coach in which I've taken place with my two slaves is on the way to the port of Ostia, where we will take the ship to Tarraco. We are roughly half-way when bandits suddenly attack from both sides of the road. They're only about ten, but their volley of arrows hits several men of our scant escort, and spreads panic among the others. Leaving their bows, the outlaws grab their long knives and rush to our coach. The one who seems to be their chieftain, a young guy certainly not more than 20, aims directly at me and shouts at me to surrender. I've seized my sword, but I certainly can't stand alone against all.
