*Colonisation Series*

A spinoff of Civilisation, Colonisation focuses, not on building up an empire of your own, but rather expanding someone else's. You control the forces of one of four European powers: England, France, The Netherlands, or Spain. Your task is to colonise the new world for your country, and send back as many goods as possible. Unbeknownst to the king (or queen), though, you have another goal: to establish an independent nation by revolution.

In order to throw off your shackles, you must build up your towns, expand across the New World, seize valuable resources, recruit Founding Fathers, and fight with Indians, other Europeans, and eventually your own ruler, who will send a large fleet to crush your insurrection...

Later versions added new features like multiplayer, additional European powers and leaders, and special effects from the constitution, but remained mostly faithful to the core ideas of the game.
