At the office
Getting back to work
The train trip to downtown took about half an hour, leaving Hunter with a two block walk to his office building. He walked briskly, clearing his mind for the tasks ahead and pressing the day's events to the side.
He took the elevator up to his floor, then strode through the glass doors, sketching a wave at the receptionist as he passed. He nodded to a few people on the way to his office, where he dropped his briefcase on his desk and hung up his jacket.
"How're you feeling Hunt?" a voice asked from his doorway. Hunter turned to see his boss, the vice-president of accounts, looking at him with friendly concern.
"Much better. They stitched me up and shot me full of antibiotics, but I'll be ok."
"Must be a pain in the ass though," his boss chuckled. "Your team has been working hard all day. You're got a great bunch there. You should be proud of them."
"I am. I'll be getting together with them in a few minutes to see where we're at, and I'm planning to work late tonight."
"Sounds good. If you need any help let me know. And Hunt, watch your ass," he says with another laugh.
Hunter sat at his desk and logged in to his computer, sending an email to his team that he wanted a status meeting in fifteen minutes in his office. He'd no sooner sent it when there was a tap on his door frame. He looked up to see Sally, a young intern that was attached to his team, standing in his doorway.
"Yes Sally, what is it?"
"Sorry to bother you Mr. Collins," she said with a little blush. "I just wanted to say I hope you're feeling better, and I can get you a coffee or something if you like."
He smiled at the pretty young blonde, admiring her trim body as she stood waiting.
"I'm much better Sally, thank you. And I'd love a coffee. One..."
"One cream, one sugar," she smiled. "I'll get it right away Mr. Collins." He watched her turn, smiling at the sight of her firm rump in her tight, fashionably ripped jeans.
She was back within minutes carrying a cup of coffee and a cookie on a napkin. "I thought you might like a cookie too," she smiled, putting them down on his desk then looking at him with sudden interest. "Mmm, I love your cologne," she said, inhaling sharply.
Puzzled, he looked up at her, noticing a flush on her throat and cheeks. She gave her head a little shake as if to clear her mind, then gave a nervous nod and excused herself, glancing back at him over her shoulder as she left his office.
What's going on?
