Waffles!

Jack had to clear his throat as he watched them coming back up the long drive. From where he was in the dining room the girls had to run past him to get to either the front door or the one father down by the garage. He couldn't help himself but to check out their firm back sides. He rolled his eyes, leaned his head back, and thought once again, "Oh boy... what have I got myself into? I'm going to hell for what I'm thinking..."

He went into the kitchen and started to pull some things out of the pantry. "Hmmm," he thought aloud as he got some of the ingredients. next he went to the fridge and pullout a small container of blueberry's, again talking to himself, "Pancakes or waffles? Waffles or pancakes?" pulling the bacon out as well. He could hear the girls had come in and were somewhere in the house.

He turned on the oven, setting it to 400. Next he took a cookie sheet and put a piece of baking parchment on it, before then covering it with strips of the pork goodness. Then grabbing the bottle of real maple syrup, Jack carefully put a streak of the yummy, sticky stuff down each slice. A moment later he was putting the sheet in the over, setting the timer for 18 minutes. Next out came a large mixer. Suffice to say that as he continued to make some kind of batter, he seemed unsure which direction to go. He stopped, stared at it all for a moment before announcing, "Waffles!" to no one in particular and got the large waffle iron out and plugged it in. Now that he had his 'mission' he moved at a quicker pace.

Soon the bacon was done, it's maple scent spreading through the house. Several waffles were stacked on a plate. The old fashioned bottles of milk and OJ sat on the counter beside it all. Jack stood back, looked at it all, and was quite pleased with himself. He turned to get a plate and saw that he had an audience.
