Approach, but don't intervene

Much of the weekend shopping crowd scatters in a panic as the officers run toward the armed woman with weapons drawn, yelling for her to drop her gun. You decide that in your civvies with police already on the scene, you're just as likely to get in the way as you are to help, so you hang around the periphery, standing with a group of curious onlookers, ready to step in if needed. Looking at the gun, you wonder what this thing is. It's not the typical firearm as it has some sort of red tank attached to it. Maybe it's just a paint gun?

The wild-eyed woman, dressed in a baggy grey hoodie and sweat pants, continues shouting and pointing her gun at the fur-coated woman. Her unkempt curly brown hair swishes back and forth as she switches her attention between her cowering target and the police. "I WARNED YOU!" she shouts. "YOU ASKED FOR THIS!" You are too far away to stop her as she lets loose a roar as she pulls the trigger on her weapon. Instead of the familiar pop of a firearm though, there is an electronic hum.

A red glow emanates from the tank and a wide crimson beam of light shoots forward out of the weapon. The red light completely envelops the fur-coated lady before the attacker swings the weapon sideways, sweeping the beam over the police and some of the onlookers. "What have you DONE? NOOO!" shrieks the fur-coated woman as her outfit begins to disintegrate before your eyes. In fact, all of the people who were caught in the beam are now desperately trying to hold onto the scraps of their outfits as they fall apart. The officers who were once approaching are now in full retreat, pinning the remains of their uniforms to their bodies. Some of the people around you have taken out their phones to record the chaos. Emboldened by her success, the crazy lady has begun firing randomly at the bystanders, maniacally laughing the whole time.

The red beam hits a well-dressed businesswoman in the back. On the phone, she seems to have been ignoring the whole thing and has a delayed reaction as she reaches behind her, feeling her now-bare behind, before frantically trying to cover her exposed ass while running away. Next up is a middle-aged woman who had just left a fancy dress shop. Her designer clothes are reduced to nothing and she uses the shopping bag to attempt to cover up as she waddles away. The next target is a pair of women who must have just left the gym. Their sports bras and tights vanish, but they don't seem to care much, continuing to calmly walk along. They have wonderfully toned bodies and you can't really blame them if they aren't embarrassed to show off a bit. Man it's really convenient that there are only women around.

Meanwhile, you have started to charge the attacker in an attempt to take her out when she has her back turned, but she wheels around and fires in your direction. With a quick dive to the side, you go crashing through a store window, but a pillar blocks the beam from reaching you. The sorority girls who were standing near you, who moments ago were laughing at the misfortune of the formerly fur-coated woman, were not so lucky. The beam hits them full-strength and their clothes fade to dust, revealing their toned bodies. The bleached blonde who had been the most vocal, and the most busty, vainly attempts to hold on to her disintegrating bra, but it fades away, along with a couple wads of tissues. She keeps her hands on her smallish saggy boobs as she runs away screaming. You are treated to the sight of their jiggling asses as the group follows.

I have to stop this lady before somebody gets hurt. Or worse, before someone under the age of 18 has their clothes disintegrated! I don't know what that energy beam will do to my nanites, so I've got to take her out without getting hit. How the hell am I going to do that?
