My Imaginary Friend

"Don't worry Jodie, I'll protect you" said an airy voice behind her. Jodie quickly turned around to see nothing. Her shoulder felt like it was frozen, but it got considerably warmer. It actually felt like a hand was on her shoulder.

"What is your name?" Jodie asks, puzzled.

"My name is Aiden." The voice replied.

"Do you want to pla--" Jodie was cut off mid sentence by her Mother'svoice coming from downstairs.

"Jodie could you do me a favor. Could you bring in a bottle of oil from the garage?"

"Sure, no problem."

Jodie looked around her room one last time but couldn't feel or hear Aiden.

Once downstairs, Jodie saw that her Mom was fixing dinner. 'We seemingly have the same dinner every night, chicken, rice and veggies.' Jodie thought. Susan often has the chicken soaked in olive oil and that's what she wanted Jodie to get for her in the garage.

Walking in the garage, Jodie turned the light switch and a light came on, but quickly dimmed as it was almost going out. Sensing this, Jodie hurriedly grabbed the weighty bottle of olive oil and headed for the door

The light suddenly died. As it did, the door slammed shut and Jodie was left in darkness. She felt a chill pass through her.

She calls for her new friend for help, which might've just been a figment of a daydream.

"A-Aiden?"

In Jodie's ear she could hear inhuman growling causing her to scream and run for the door still clutching the bottle.
