Chapter 20
by Vain
How to carry on with the rest of the day...?
It's Friday, and something's bound to happen
After their meeting in the garden, Jack was unable to get the mysterious girl out of his head, and so he spent the rest of the morning just scouring the web for any information he could find about her. Just because she'd appeared in public media didn't mean there was a lot to find however, and all he got in the end was her name and a couple of articles from the newspaper she worked for.
Sam Hornes didn't sound much like a girl's name, even if the first was apparently short for Samantha, but somehow it seemed to fit her personality just fine. It reminded him of a grumpy old teacher he'd had back in school, which in turn made him remember how he'd joked with Shirley back then, before they became a couple, that she should name her first born after the old sod, just to see it there was something that would finally make him smile for once.
That was all in the past though, and the memory only provoked Jack even more, while he still couldn't find any other information about the young reporter. Then he suddenly realized that he'd even forgotten to make some lunch, when the clock was already well after noon, and he was just about finished eating some quick-made soup when the first of his daughters arrived back home from work.
At about the same time he also remembered that he didn't get around to finish what he started in the bathroom the same morning, and could feel some of that pent up frustration getting back at him now, while he tried his best to focus on something else than his enigmatic young stalker. And the drastic change in the weather didn't make things any easier on him, as he found Catherine having changed into one of the skimpiest black tops he'd ever seen in her collection, with a pair of low-cut jeans to go with the theme of exposing as much of her midriff as possible.
"Hi dad!" She smiled and winked as she came through the door, while Jack tried his best to simply ignore the way she was dressed. Just for once he wasn't even able to give her one of his usual, disapproving glares, but instead just struggled to not let it show how much her choice of clothes appealed to some parts of his brain.
"Are you alright?" She continued, with a curious look on her face, and made him realize that he'd barely registered the last thing she'd said. "I just wanted to know if you had any plans for the evening...?"
"Not that I know of..." Jack replied with caution, as he could tell that she wasn't asking out of simple curiosity, and his suspicions were confirmed when she grinned and asked if he'd like to go shopping with her and the rest of her sisters.
"I passed the shop on my way home this morning..." He tried to protest, even as he knew full well that groceries was not what his daughter had in mind at all. Usually he was mercifully unneeded for the girls trips into town, as Shirley was fully capable of driving their car, and Jack himself almost always had to get up for some work on Saturday morning. But now it seemed like even that kind of comfort would finally be taken away from him, until he could **** at least one of his daughters to finish their driving lessons.
Luckily the girls had apparently not talked things over among themselves however, as it turned out that all three had different plans of what to do when the others came back from school. Especially Kim kept insisting on going to the nearby lake instead, rather than wasting the great weather and her Friday afternoon at some crowded mall. And while Jack could agree to some extent, he wasn't so sure if going to the beach with these three ladies was such a great idea either.
Much to his chagrin it seemed like Jennifer was much too quick to give her vote away to either of her sisters, which meant that none of them agreed with him to just stay at home. And because of the stupid rule of democracy, it seemed like it was up to him to choose between two sides that were equally bad for him...
What one will he pick then?

Girls of Jack
One man's world has been turned upside down, but he may find hope in the most unexpected places.
A story which I hope to work on when I have the time for it. For now it's closed for others, but I'll gladly accept ideas and suggestions for how to improve or continue the story! I've now started adding conditions, which is how I planned it from the start. So far it's recommended to read without activating the play function, but please try it out if you want, and let me know if you find something odd about the scoring.
