What's next?

Through the fields with Milly

As you ponder what to do Milly reminds you that you had passed an open gate a little bit ago on the right. You both comes to the decision that the other way would simply take too long to be worthwhile especially as you are beginning to be concerned about the time. With the ground dry from the warm summer there's no issue of mud if you're slow and steady. After briefly checking this reasoning with Milly you're both content and you begin to reverse slowly and carefully. It takes you about 5 minutes to reach the open gate, its likely simply open because it has no need to be shut with the absence of farm animals.
You slowly begin to dry into the field. The mud around the gate is fairly dry, a little spongy but with a slow and constant speed your car is fine and inside the field itself is better due to being less chewed up by tractors or livestock. As you look around the open field for where to head Milly points to a gap in a hedgerow over the other side of the field and you promptly drive towards it. You keep your discipline and stay slow, it takes a while to traverse the large field but soon your into the next field and now able to look for a way back onto the road.
You spot in the far corner of the field a gate on to the road.

"Perfect... Except from the fact its not open," exclaims Milly. As you drive over you glance about the field, there's a fairly clear view except from the large hedge to your side bordering the road.

What to do with the gate.
