You follow Blue out of the Poke Mart and let him lead you down the streets, your curiosity over what he could want getting the better of you.

He leads you to the edge of town, which opens to a wide, dirt road that stretches off into the distance. "Here it is," Blue says, waving his arm off to the horizon.

You look at him, raising an eyebrow. "This... certainly is a road," you say.

Blue snorts. "Anyone with half a brain would know it's not just ANY road, Loser," he says, "This is THE road. Victory Road!"

Your eyes widen and you look off into the distance again, squinting to see if anything about it gives its identity away. "THE Victory Road," you almost whisper in reverent awe, "It was always so close to home?"

"I know, right?" Blue says, "A little bit over the horizon there's a gate that'll only open once you show the gatekeeper all eight Pokemon Badges in the region... and it was practically in our backyard the entire time."

"Wow.." you whisper again.

"Ah, man..." Blue groans, "just thinking about it makes me so damn excited... I... wanna Pokemon battle so bad!"

He looks at you, biting his lower lip. "... Hell," he growls, "I'm damn sure last time was a lucky fluke and I could take ya with Elerat and Trapjaw."

Trapjaw must be the name he gave the Rattata, you think to yourself as you give him a raised eyebrow once more. "Aw, c'mon," he groans, "I'll go home either way so what's it matter if we have a battle here or not? Unless you're scared I'm right... heck, I bet you're too afraid of paying up for our usual stakes when I win!"

Sometimes you wish Blue would be a little less obvious about when he was trying to bait you. Granted, you don't always MIND being baited into a little healthy competition (and what normally follows said competition) but are you really in the mood for it right now?
