Chapter 18

Chaser IV
Does Eevee still have a chance to win?
Snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.
Eevee slams her head against Dratini, causing it to let go of her and ending it's Wrap attack. While your Pokemon was able to hold off for now, you're not confident that she'll be able to do so again. With Eevee in such bad shape, she can't rely on dodging anymore and wearing Dratini down. You'll pretty much have to win everything in one last move, otherwise Eevee will definitely lose. Luckily, Blue is letting her Dratini grab a breather for now, putting the battle on pause for the moment.
You check on Eevee to make sure she's still up for battle. She nods in favor of continuing the battle, and you tell her your plan. It's nothing fancy, but its the best you can do given the circumstances. Eevee nods in understanding before moving back to get ready for battle. Blue has finished with her own session with Dratini, and both Pokemon are ready to finish the fight.
Blue has Dratini once again lead off with Wrap though she keeps a good amount of focus on Eevee, likely watching out for another evasion maneuver on your part. For now though, she's left waiting as Dratini's leap propels it closer to Eevee. Eevee's body is tensed up like a spring and ready to release at your command. You wait until the last possible second before giving Eevee the command to Tackle Dratini. Eevee puts the full **** of her body against Dratini. Clearly, Blue and her Pokemon were expecting Eevee to evade the attack, and the surprise works in your favor as the collision deals a greater amount of damage than it normally would, although Eevee doesn't come out unscathed from the attack either.
Both Pokemon collapse a few feet from each other, and it looks as if the match will end in a draw. Both Pokemon struggle to get back up with the encouragement of their respective Trainers, but in the end Dratini is unable to continue. Eevee is just barely able to stand back up and its enough that the match is called in your favor. Blue has disbelief frozen on her face, but that doesn't matter to you for now.
You recall Eevee to her Pokeball as Professor Oak walks up to you with a proud smile on his face.
"That was an excellent battle, Red. You made the best out of Eevee's speed in a match that would normally put you at a great disadvantage. Hopefully, this will teach my granddaughter to put more thought into her actions, since she cannot rely just on brute strength to win a battle. Fortunately, neither of your Pokemon have any critical injuries. Just leave them here in the lab with me overnight and they'll both be right as rain in the morning."
Thankfully, this alleviates your worry over Eevee's condition and you let out a sigh of relief. When Professor Oak holds his hand out, you gently hand over Eevee's Pokeball to him. He looks it over with a smile before addressing you once more.
"You know, many Trainers give their Pokemon a nickname. Would you like to do the same for Eevee?"
Give Eevee a nickname?
