What do you answer?
"Sure."
You had wanted to make this visit as short and painless as possible and you could just easily say no and get Kim out of your life forever. But you guess you want some closure and get some things off your chest you never had a chance to when you broke up with her.
"Sure," you mutter.
"Mark, I just want to say I'm sorry," she says, looking down at her feet in shame. "I'm sorry I cheated on you."
"If you were really sorry I shouldn't be the one moving out and Brian moving in."
"But I..." she starts to protest but you interrupt her.
"Clearly you didn't want me in your life any more so be it. I'm moving on with my life," you growl, turning away towards the elevator.
"I'm so sorry," she weeps but you keep walking. You step into the elevator and hear her run after you. You see her pretty face, wet with tears, as the elevator doors close.
"Bye, Kim."
You laugh when you squeeze the last box into your car.
