They head to Leigh's apartment

Leigh is torn between excitement and disappointment about the ease with which she convinced Priyanka to come to her place. On the one hand, of course, it's very good news. She wants to get this girl alone. On the other hand, though, there's a good chance it means Priyanka has no concept of Leigh wanting anything more than to study--and thus could be very upset if she came on to her.

Leigh puts those thoughts aside and concentrates on making small talk with Priyanka as they walk to her apartment. Priyanka is from Boston, which Leigh has visited several times, so they talk about that for a while. Then their majors, and favorite professors, and the college in general.

Finally, Leigh gets up the nerve to ask, "You dating anybody?"

Priyanka shakes her head with a smile. "No, I don't have time for that. Relationships are too much work."

Leigh nods. "Yeah I understand that. I just got out of a long-term relationship recently. I'm glad to be single."

She pauses, heart racing, then decides to press on. "It can get lonely though."

"Uuuugghhhh, can it ever," Priyanka responds, turning her face to the sky in exasperation.

"Though uh..." Leigh starts, then trails off.

"Though what?" Priyanka looks Leigh in the eye, curious, and entices her to continue.
