The underground colony of the cambions is a hidden place, but it is surprisingly close to a small town inhabited mostly by humans. They would probably send their warriors to destroy us if they knew about us, but the adepts of the colony keep it well hidden, and we manipulate the town in our own subtle ways.

The leader of the colony adepts has issued a call out to all the adventurers to try to hunt monsters in the area just outside the colony, and harvest them for their uses. At the moment, the adepts are especially interested in slime fluid, which is good for young and relatively inexperienced adventurers like me as they are for the most part weak monsters that are easy to kill. Rumour has it that the slime fluids are a powerful aphrodisiac substance, which gives me some idea of what they council of adepts is planning, but that's not really my concern. The council does not appreciate younglings like me meddling in matters beyond their position. I have also heard rumours of monstrous slimes the size of houses whose pseudopods are prehensile like tentacles and acidic ones that can eat steel, but I suppose they must just be rumours.

I leave the colony by the secret cavern that leads out into the forest. The moon is shining overhead, and my night vision is clear. A few groups of novice adventurers are also around, even some humans who have aligned themselves with us, and some of these groups have obvious veteran adventurers along as well.
