Chapter 9 by airwreck airwreck

What do you say?

Offer to be her new roommate.

"I can be your roommate," you blurt out without thinking it through.

"Really?" she gasps.

"It's suppose to be cheaper living with someone else than by yourself, right?" you say, wondering how much the rent her place is compared to your one-bedroom apartment.

"Yes," she smiles at you.

"Of course, it means that we'll be just living together and no sex," you add. You regret the last part as you say it.

She bites her lower lip and glances away for a moment before looking back at you. "Unless you want to..." she suggests.

"I... You...," you stutter, lost for words at the thought of living with the beautiful redhead. "You mean like friends with benefits?"

"We're not friends yet," she laughs.

"I guess not," you agree. "We don't know each other and yet we had sex."

"You don't do many one-night stands I take it?" she asks.

"No, otherwise I wouldn't have called you," you say. "I mean, I'm glad I called you!"

"Don't worry I know what you mean," Samantha smiles. "I know you're a good man."

"How can you tell?" you wonder.

She pauses before answering. "Um. I did a reversed lookup of your phone number and got your full name. I then checked you out on social media to see what kind of guy you were."

"Really?" You wonder what kind of things she saw, hopefully not anything to embarrassing.

"I checked every guy who called to screen out the creeps," she answers. "That's why you were my first client."

"Thanks for trusting me," you smile. "So I don't know anything about you."

"I guess I should tell you my full name if we're going to live together. I'm Samantha O'Neill. I'm Irish descent as you can tell," she giggles, pointing to her red hair and pale freckled face. "I work downtown as an office manager at an accounting firm. It's not very exciting nor is it the best pay but stable. What do you do?"

You tell her about your job, it pays decent but you still want to aspire to something better to push ahead in your career. You mention that you tried online dating for a while but nothing lead to anything long term.

"That's too bad," she whispers. "You're a great lover."

You chuckle.

"What?" she asks, confused why you would laugh at her compliment.

"Sorry, I just find it ironic that we have terrific sex first before getting to know each other. Usually it works the other way around."

"If you put it that way it is kind of funny."

"By the way I still owe you two hundred dollars."

"Oh no I can't," Samantha replies. But you can see it in her eyes that she's being polite.

"Just consider it a down payment for my share of the rent. I still have to give a month's notice to my landlord."

"Thank you," she says and leans over to give you a quick kiss on the lips.

What do you do?
